Outstanding @mikewalsh !!
This is exactly my 2000th post.
Ahhhh, I don't know, I remember him when he didn't know squat............LOL
Yeah, Mike does a lot for the forum and all the users, has become a resident expert on a lot of topics.
Like many others (on a short list) don't know how he finds the time.
ATTA BOY MIke.
Thanks

Coo. Jeez.....
Unlike some folk in other fora I've come across, I couldn't give a monkey's about "post-count", or "seniority", the way some do. Only occasionally do I even look at my post count; what difference does it make if I've made 100, or 10,000?
I enjoy the atmosphere here on the forum. I like getting stuff to work for the community. I enjoy helping people out with problems, where I can. I can think of several who are far more deserving of mention than I, though the sentiment IS appreciated.
Never forget; we ARE a community.....with all that implies. This means we help each other out; we all have our strengths & weaknesses. Besides.....it keeps me out of mischief! ("Idle hands", and all that....)
Mike.

Yeah, post count doesn't say much (can be 100000 of junk) but in your case almost all your posts have QUALITY and/or are HELPFUL
Yes thank you Mike for your many wise and helpful posts. Also for taking up the role of Moderator.

EXACTLY. Thanks from here too Mike
My pups: LxPupSc64 and Voidpup64 with LXDE ydrv & synaptics touchpad drivers, both using savefiles. Ydrv based NoblePup64 (JWM & LXDE), Bookworm64 & Fossapup64-small (LXDE/PCManFM). No savefiles, no fdrvs there.

an image went here once upon a time.
No smaller cat, no bigger kittens.
Seriously though I have no idea who Mike is.
This is the first time I learned about him.
Didn't go that deep into the forum jungle.

There ya go, gang. They do exist....
Even after all these years, a Puppy regular who hasn't got a clue who I am. And, I confess, despite that I've been aware of them for years, we've never interacted...
(*shrug*)
Mike.
I can't speak for others. But you're one of the few people whose name I can remember.
We still have not. Addressing as the third person doesn't count.
Hey don't let them encouraging you too much, they will to suck you dry like the kittens working on that poor cat.
Oh, there's another one I don't know. I think I would remember that cat face.
You guys are now popping like mushrooms.
Where have you been all this time?

I promote a healthy lifestyle and reading books. This can be called propaganda.
By the way, I recently read in a book that if Putin (whose health is fine) sends gas and oil to Serbia on rockets directly from Space, then the whole of Montenegro will forget about its seaports and run to look at it
Fossapup OS, Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, 64 GB RAM, GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB, Sound Blaster Audigy Rx with amplifier + Yamaha speakers for loud sound, USB Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro V3 + headphones for quiet sound.

I see posts like that all the time.
People promote their "healthy" products all the time.
The women are particularly targeted with beauty and health tips.
Like Konstrakta sings in new Serbia's contender for Euro vision.
Press C for subtitles.
The song is very layered and has some hidden messages.
The atmosphere and tone are very sterile.
Space delivery joke.
I did fill that list with the random ##### that I came up with, but that's not my point.
My point was how easy it is to profile people online and know about them even when we never communicated before.
Algorithm can do this automatically.
For example we know how many posts Mike has posted because there is an algorithm that counts them.
I don't question the morality of existence of a simple counter algorithm but it's use.
It's purpose is to facilitate a social credit system, the same as the one in China.
Besides the number of posts, there is a "thank you" button to raise the social credit of an individual user account.
And it's counter is been displayed in a public manner.

It's not any different than the Facebook's very own social credit system with likes, hearts, and number of shares and comments.
Or Twitter's or any other social network's credit system.
But there are different social credit systems in GNU/Linux communities,
Have a peek at just a portion of the social credit system on Ubuntu Mate Community forum:

What was that just now?!
And why did I first read her name as a Cataract (Катаракта)?!
I need something to drink

I see what you did there
I don't speak any of the slavic languages so thanks for the subtitles, I hope they're an accurate representation of what's actually being said.
I don't get the joke about the space delivery - but I suppose it's shared joke between your two countries
__________
That being said, of course, thanks for Mike (Walsh) for being generous with his time, helping many, around here.
I did my share back in the old forum, in the olden days. Now I'm here just for the fun
@mikewalsh
Oh, yeah. I believe that 2900 is not a "round number". I will congratulate you when 3000 comes
This moment will come quickly In the meantime, let's see the best counter and how to count something correctly. And a one-and-a-half-minute fragment from one of my most favorite films, Hot Shots! 2, will help us in this:

The translation is very accurate.
The first time you view this song it can be confusing. Isn't it?
It's not the regular circus you expect to see, the one that gives you a regular dose of happiness.
You have to step out of you comfort and watch it over again and think to grasp the meaning.
It provides space for self-interpretation.
Some connect it with the Covid situation.
My free interpretation is not about that.
The first association that comes to my mind are all those
different kind of pills, seeds and oils that are good for our health
and that menacing attack from manufacturers of products to cure all that exists on this world.
About that imperative of the consumerist society and not essential care about health.
Or an imperative of beauty, to be young and pretty forever.
About that aspect of pressure of the modern world.
A satire of the entire social view of health.
In the final there is a play on the old Latin saying "Mens sana in corpore sano" (A healthy mind in a healthy body),
except that Konstrakta makes it clear that only the body is healthy,
the soul inside is desperate which is a commentary on our own reality.
We are all obsessed with improving our health, we try to eat better, be more active, take all those expensive drugs and supplements.
But what about our mind? More often than not it is our mind that needs care, not the body.
Who are people around her? Maybe the controllers that make sure you live your life correctly by the rules.
And she washes her hands all the time, a metaphor about how health care workers need to "wash their hands"
meaning to clear their conscience when they refuse to treat you because you don't have a health insurance.
What's your interpretation?

I've learnt nothing from that man...certainly not humility.
Good on you Mike...happy days.

Heh. O-kayyy.....
Post count by itself means absolutely nothing. It's not about quantity of posts so much as it is about quality of content.
I would far sooner take advice from someone who has contributed just a few hundred helpful posts, than I would from one who has contributed several thousand of what I call 'waffle'.....though the sentiment IS appreciated. I hope to be here for a while to come yet, and to continue making a worthwhile contribution to the community.
We shall see....
@fredx181 :- What on earth....??!?
Mike.
