Where can I get MP3gain for Bionic 32? (Solved with wxmp3gain)

Post by gilles »

Hi,

I am looking for MP3gain.
With xenial I had easymp3gain but it doesn't work with bionic. When I add a file, I have an error message :
Error: Cannot start mp3gain. Installed?
In the terminal I have this :

Code: Select all

# easymp3gain
[WARNING] Out of OEM specific VK codes, changing to unassigned
[WARNING] Out of unassigned VK codes, assigning $FF

Of course, I downloaded libmpg123-0_1.25.10-1

Thank you

I did try to look at this. I compiled mp3gain without problems in Bionic32 but it is only the command line utility. The problem is with easymp3gain GUI front-end. This still does not work with the new mp3gain which I compiled. I got the same errors as you. The easymp3gain executable is pre-compiled and is (I think) too old for Bionic. The easymp3gain source code is written in a strange coding language which requires Free Pascal Compiler and something else in order to compile it. It is not a normal C or C++ thing. So if you are happy to use mp3gain from terminal that is possible. It might be possible to hunt for the tools needed to compile easymp3gain, but that needs some time and work with no guarantees of success. If I have any other ideas later I will post them.

Hi,
Thank you for your answer.
I am not very good with the command line...
Is there another tool which could do the same job ? I already tried severals but with no luck.
Thank you

This is wxmp3gain version 4.0
GUI front-end for mp3gain using wxWidgets
Maybe a bit big but if it does what you need perhaps that is OK
You will need to test it to see if it is any good
mpg123-1.26.3 compiled from source
mp3gain-1.6.2 utility compiled from source
wxWidgets-3.0.5 with GTK2 support compiled from source
wxmp3gain-4.0 compiled from source
Package assembled containing all needed executables and libraries from the list above
Download strictly FOR TESTING from here:-

Hi OscarTalks,
I began testing it with a new frugal install because you said it is for testing only.
It works perfectly ! Very good job !
So, after testing it in every posible way, I installed it in the install I use daily.
After installing, with success, unetbootin in Bionic, MP3gain was the only remaining reason for me to go on to use windows from time to time. Now, I have no more reason to use windows...
Thank you very much.
