PPM (Puppy Package Manager), in any of the 64 bit Ubuntu based Puppies, should have kodi in their PPM.
May not be the very latest version of Kodi, but it will be the one compiled, to work with the support files/programs, that are in the Puppy version.
If it works, do not try to fix it, with a newer version.
In my install of Xenialpup64 7.5
I used Puppy Package Manager(PPM) and installed Kodi.
Works for me.
Do this:
Update Xenialpup64 by using Quickpet>Info>Xenialpup updates
Reboot and update the save so the changes are being used.
Run PPM
In configure update the database.
Now do search for kodi.
A lot of stuff will be found.
Install this specific one:
kodi_15.2+dfg1 open source home theater executable binaries
It will also install 9 other dependencies.
I would reboot and update the save, to make sure everything is saved, and still installed.
Looking in PPM uninstall, there is some Python 3 stuff, but I am not sure, I already had this or the kodi install, installed it.
I would post a working image, but the kodi screen takes over the desktop, full screen, and I cannot get to the menu, to select an imaging program, to take a picture.
I know nothing about using this kodi program.
Also in PPM, I see listed some add on stuff, you may also need to install, to do whatever you are doing.
Update:
This ability to install add ons is in kodi itself.
Note:
I tried Kodi in a newer version of a Ubuntu based Puppy (Fossapup64 9.5)
It's PPM does install a newer version of Kodi, but the only difference I see is the Kodi main screen look.
It seems to work no different from the older version Xenialpup64 7.5 PPM installed.
I actually like the looks of the older Kodi version main screen.
The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected
Python 2 is out dated.
Python 3 is supposed to be faster.
What I want to know is how to uninstall Python 2, and install Python 3
I have had good luck using an ActiveState Python3 package. Relativly easy to set up and also pip3 works well.
it is possible to install Python3 side-by-side with Python2
