Looks like that appimage is no good, I tried it and doesn't work for me too.

EDIT: no, it won't work as it's made for to run "run-as-spot", only works on puppy.
EDIT again: It works for me (added --no-sandbox) changing last 3 lines in script brave/brave-pup to:

Thanx Fred, that did the Trick, if only now I could have a Launcher via Tint2Launcher Top or Bottom 4 it & I Hope the same Recipe will work 4 the FreeTube Appimage ( which az I've previously said does work from /root/bin/Appimages Location, But didn't Create a Launcher in the Internet Category ), However I'd Actually Rather have them Both in the Tint2Launcher, But I don't know How 2 Do that, so sum Coaching wood be Appreciated, Thanx

No luck yet w/ adding FreeTube 2 the Tint2Launcher, I Copied the instance from /usr/share/applications, then Pasted 2 /root/tint2Launcher... I Notice that All of the other icons have got the Shortcut arrow, But my FreeTube icon doesn't.... I don't kNow wot I've done wRong?

Should work also with normal .desktop file, without shortcut arrow, I assume you did restart tint2 ?
Can you show me contents of the .desktop launcher ? Does it have extension .desktop ?

What's Frustrating iz that Brave waz previously Running 4 a while, also @ sum stage after that just mentioned Failure Windows I'm Also getting another Different small Error Message about invalid Desktop eNtry File " /usr/share/applications/Brave_Browser.desktop " az seen in my Attachments, I Can Confirm that they aRe my File Paths & Correct File Names & Capitalization, But Beyond that I'm @ a Loss, Sorry!

About the .desktop eXtension, a Strange thing haz happened w/ the FreeTube.desktop, I don't kNow How, whY or when it renamed itself .backup.1598265368 instead of the .desktop eXtension. I Renamed it .desktop, But it just Changed itself again. Yet it Still Works, Weird!

No joy yet adding any of my Appimages 2 the Tint2Launcher. Btw How can I Suppress the intermediate Window from Asking if I want 2 eXecute or eXecute in Terminal or Open etc? Also iz there a way 2 make that Launcher Baa Appear On Top when I Hover the Mouse Cursor Near it?

If the path and everything else is correct, I have no idea what's happening
EDIT: I see just now in your earlier post (viewtopic.php?p=3325#p3325) that your Brave .desktop file has Category= , it must be Categories= , maybe that's causing the trouble? Not sure.

Sure it's weird, never seen that.
I'd suggest to create a new .desktop file with different filename, must have .desktop extension otherwise won't show in tint2 top panel.
The contents of your freetube launcher looks ok to me.

In pcmanfm preferences General tab tick "Don't ask options on launch executable file"

Yes, set autohide to 1 in ~/.config/tint2/top.tint2rc (manual way)
Or GUI way run:

Also I'm interested in your impressions of Joplin, FreeTube, LBRY & Stellarium & if they ( or some of ) might be suitable / Appropriate 4 inclusion in Future Dogs? Wot I like about Joplin besides it being Open Sauce iz it being X Platform & can be Syncronized between those Devices & that it's Not Google, Similarly FreeTube iz yoUTube without Ads & LBRY Likewize! But I'm Mindful about Bloat in any OS & Users having the Choice 2 install or Run Optional Apps or not. However I Do Personally Believe that these Apps Deserve Consideration...

Mmm... I assume you used the menu entry "google-chrome" to install and run it ? Audio works for me with chrome, so I don't know why not for you.
Just guessing..., if you have more than one soundcard, try select another one by using "sound card selector" from Menu.

1. Browsers want to send audio output to the default audio device. Make sure that it is set in ALSA.

2. I have had problems with Chrome audio when using an alternate output device (like Bluetooth). Try starting Chrome with the "--no-sandbox" option.

Now with UEFI support (64-bit ISO), many thanks to @jamesbond, for the great help and also thanks for support to @Clarity .

I'd appreciate if anyone with an UEFI system can test.
Specially a manual install by copying files to USB, see in ISO "ReadMe-UEFI".
I can't really test myself, because my hardware doesn't support it, although I did test with qemu virtualization UEFI boot and seems to work fine.

Hi Fred, I downloaded the new uefi.iso. Using it now, posting from palemoon.
Normally I do a manual frugal install using a USB boot partition (fat32) nd a variety of folders on internal SSD or on USB. I read the Readme-UEFI, and attempted to do a new frugal install as per directions.

I copied the EFI and live folders and grub.cfg to a 4GB SD card connected via a card reader. On first boot I got the incorrect cheat code message. Pressing Enter then completed the boot from the new installation.

First observation, no firmware included. I copied my required firmware I keep a backup of on the laptop.

I then rebooted and created a savefile. On reboot I toggled down to select the 3rd boot option to use savefile. I get again the cheatcode error, so the system appears to boot as a fresh boot, so no savefile is loaded and no wifi again. The Readme-UEFI needs to have instructions how to overcome the cheat code errors.

The grub.cfg is set up to look for changes in /buster_dog/changes.dat. I changed both options 2 & 3 to use /live/changes*, the boot using the savefile was then successful. After boot all seems to be working OK.


Some observations:
This doesn't appear to cause an issue, the first line of grub.cfg is loadfont /boot/grub/font.pf2. This won't be found as the boot directory wasn't included in the Readme_UEFI instructions to be copied to the USB drive.

During boot there is an error reported. I don't know what this means, it is not a problem for me:
startpar: service(s) returned failure: brightness

Thanks, yes the grub.cfg and text in Readme-UEFI needs more attention, if fact the entries in grub.cfg are examples to be edited by the user.
It has "changes=/buster_dog" , when there exist such folder on the root of any partition, it will be used (for save to folder it must be Linux filesystem, ext2/3/4)
I will think about how to make things more intuitive, anyway good to know that UEFI boot works, thanks.

Yes no firmware included, but there's a firmware squashfs Here, see also at first post.

For my current ultralow bandwidth setup I'm trying to figure out a way to mount previously downloaded iso(s) as sources instead of ftp.us.debian.org and security.debian.org as scripted in mklive lines 712 - 732.
Broadband is only 10 meters away but with inconvenient access while trying out BusterDog builds and WM configs in 'the lab'.

One or more mounts would be needed, as described here https://www.pcsuggest.com/how-to-use-an ... in-debian/

How could that be bashed out?

Could such a local deb-src be created from mklive, with a 1st run incl. all imaginable needed packages to a (Fat)BusterDog ISO?
Or modify that one with sources from elsewhere (for Openbox configs f.ex.) and then remaster. Would the added core packages then be incl.?

The bare debian ISOs are either CD sized or 3 x DVD (https://www.debian.org/CD/http-ftp/) btw.

Not saying it's impossible, but would it be doable... ? There are many wget ... commands in the mklive script, so not only you would need to make an ISO of the Dog repositories 32-bit 64-bit mount it and point to it in /etc/apt/sources.list, but..
also have the config files, tar.gz archives, squashfs modules (that are normally downloaded by wget) on disk and replace wget commands by e.g. copy commands.
So that would be major editing of the mklive script !!

Nothing, there are some packages (e.g. elogind) taken from Antix, but these are included the busterdog repos.

How can I run BusterDog in Qemu?

Hi ralcocer. Just learned from @jamesbond how to do it. It depends on from which OS, how qemu is compiled, anyway, for on 64-bit OS:

1. Install qemu, make sure you have got qemu-system-x86_64 somewhere in your path.
1A. On Debian, install qemu-system and also qemu-system-gui (for -display gtk, see below)
2. Download attached uefi-bios.bin to the same folder as the ISO (for UEFI-boot) (probably need to make it executable, not sure)

Run command for UEFI-boot ISO from directory that contains uefi-bios.bin and the ISO :

qemu-system-x86_64 -enable-kvm -bios uefi-bios.bin -cdrom BusterDog-openbox_jwm-2020-09-07_64-bit-UEFI.iso -m 1024

Or leave out '-bios uefi-bios.bin' for without UEFI

If I am going to keep building wifi driver packs, people need access to the matching kernel.

But no one has complained about the 5.6.0 kernel update disappearing, so I doubt if it's really a problem.

The target audience isn't big enough to make it worth my time.
