How to upgrade Chrome in FD810? <Solved>

Post by Clarity »

There is a bug in the ability to upgrade FD810 when an older version of Chrome is present in the system. Upgrade via

Code: Select all

Menu>Setup>Control Panel>Updates>Chrome
Though it works without errrors, will leave you with a non-functional Chrome browser.

Circumvention
  1. Remove Chrome from the system: Menu>Setup>Control Panel>System>Package Manager ... scroll/search to Chrome to remove
  2. Rerun the Update>Chrome
Hope this helps anyone

Had no problem upgrading chrome here. All worked as usual/OK.

I do boot a "clean" session every time (multi-session save), so upgrade procedure is to run the Control Panel chrome upgrade option, that creates a new chrome sfs file, that I then store and reboot into a 'clean' session before right clicking and 'install package' that chrome again (google-chrome-08292020-x86_64-official.txz file). After which I create a new save-session (click the 'Save' desktop icon), so its stacked on top of (incorporated into) the "clean" session.

Now running Version 85.0.4183.83 (Official Build) (64-bit)
