Post by joet12345 »

I have no long term experience with it but it worked in puppy to make a puppy bootable USB drive.

Does this allow fossapup to boot properly? I had to use Rufus in windows 10 to get fossapup to boot from a USB flash drive.

In the other thread, I gave you a link to ISObooter. What happened with that?

Does this allow fossapup to boot properly? Maybe, maybe not. It might depend on your general linux experience level. I had to use Rufus in windows 10 to get fossapup to boot from a USB flash drive.

If you have windows 7 or higher, Rufus will burn the fossapup iso properly to USB. Good solution if you do not have any linux to work from
What tool in puppy Linux can I try to burn the fossapup iso to USB? the one in the fossapup cd or iso. Any other tools in Linux I can try? other ones developed for puppy should be your next choice.

Mm. Interesting.

I would assume that you had to use it in 'Image' mode, yes? 'Full-featured' mode appears to be specifically for an AntiX/MX Linux 'persistent' USB. Almost certainly they will be writing this the same way that Ubuntu do with their 'LiveUSB's if persistence is required, using the 'casper' directory, etc.

According to the documentation, in 'Image' mode it works exactly like Etcher, i.e., it does an exact, byte-for-byte copy with 'dd'. This will probably give you a working copy of Puppy - in other words, it'll boot - but you won't be able to create a 'save'-file/folder, because along with Puppy it will have copied the ISO9660 file system, too.....and that's 'read-only'.

Worth hanging on to, though.....I guess. Maybe. :o

Mike. ;)
