Re: FocalPup32 FocalFossa + Debian Woof-CE build 10-Dec-2020
Hello. I tried running FocalPup32 20.12.
It seems that volume settings are not saved. Even if the settings are changed with a mixer, the values return to default when the OS is rebooted. I ran the following command to save the settings:
# alsactl store
chromium.sfs from "Get Web Browser" is not configured to enable an input method.
In lines 25 and 26 of /usr/bin/chromium,
/usr/lib/libgtk-3.so and /usr/lib/libgdk-3.so should respectively be /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgtk-3.so and /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgdk-3.so, because UPupFF+D has the directory /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu.
I modified the script, and confirmed that I can input Japanese.

tested 19-dec-2020 build, used on old intel netbook, atom monocore , gma graphics.
f2fs installation on pendrive kingston, boot ok , low resurces at work.
firefox latest , freeze the system after a bit of time. maybe a kernel incompatibility ?
old upupef updated at latest patch , work fine and smooth.
next installation test have to try ext4 installation , maybe filesystem issue the problem ....
thanks a lot for the first grade work on all the upup distros,
Happy new year at all puppies enthusisast people.

Hi Peebee..
first, I update database ppm, then I try to install libreoffice from ppm using ef. but it failed. I think ppm still can not search on old-release and still on archive.ubuntu.

libreoffice should come from the focal repos on archive and therefore should not be affected by the move of eoan to old-releases.....
You'd be better using Get-Libreoffice from the menu or using a Puppy pet/sfs from the forum.

Re: FocalPup32 FocalFossa + Debian Woof-CE build 19-Dec-2020
Hi peebee,
First of alll, I wish you an happy new year.
Thank you for your work. I'm using UPupFF+D version 20.12 and It runs well.
I try to install libreoffice from the menu and it fails : I have the choice between 3 versions (6.4.7, 7.0.3 and 7.0.4) and whatever the version chosen, it fails to download the package .
And from the forum, links are dead
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... &start=345
Where can I get the last version available in 32 bits?
Second issue, how can have the battery level in the task bar?
Thank you in advance for your help

Hello darpe,
you could try installing it from the package manager but I had issues with this when trying it on upupGG+D. As an alternative you could try the pet package available on the slacko repo:
Code: Select all
http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pet_packages-slacko14.2/libreoffice-5.2.2.2-i686_s700.pet
The slackbuild website suggests the following dependencies(, which may or may not be needed): perl-Archive-Zip, python3, apache-ant, openjdk7. I'm guessing most (or all?) are part of devX an only needed when scripting with libreoffice. You also may have problems installing java from the package manager, due to there being many alternative versions. Maybe I'll try to compile a pet.

Re: FocalPup32 FocalFossa + Debian Woof-CE build 19-Dec-2020
2 possibilities:
for LO-6.2.8 - download and install the 32 bit sfs from:
viewtopic.php?f=96&t=404
for LO-6.4.6 (requiring more interventions) download and install:
http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slackbu ... 1alien.txz
make 1 simple symlink:
Code: Select all
cd /usr/lib
ln -s i386-linux-gnu/nss/libsoftokn3.so libsoftokn3.so
edit the .desktop files in /usr/lib/libreoffice/share/xdg to remove %U from the exec lines
for both do windows restart after installation.

Hi peebee and s243a,
Thank you for your help.
I have downloaded LibreOffice 6.2.8 32 bits sfs from viewtopic.php?f=96&t=404 and it works well
Now I try to find out how to add the battery level in the task bar. It was there out of the box in my previous puppy version (Slacko 6.3.2)

I also be able to run the 6.4.6 version in bionicpup32 from alien.txz that.

Re: light browser issue
nice build for my 32bit laptop. I have bionicpup32 installed and light browser works well in youtube in the same laptop. However light browser shipped with this build (FPFF) does not work with youtube, even after installing some dependencies as specified. Is there a way to install and use light that was shipped with BP32 in this build? I need to use this build rather than BP32 since bspwm (which I use) in BP32 is not working as expected.

Hi @gychang
The version of Light is exactly the same in both builds so it must be a problem caused by a more up-to-date library in FocalPup32.....
Run Light in a terminal and see if there are any clues from dmesg after the "failure"??
Light is getting rather old - maybe try Palemoon or SeaMonkey??

Re: FocalPup32 FocalFossa+Debian Woof-CE build 24-Jun-2021
when starting light browser I get the following... I am now using Palemoon to view youtube but I feel the light browser in the BP32 seem little faster and smoother???
Code: Select all
root:# light

Re: FocalPup32 (UPupFF+D-20.12) FocalFossa+Debian Woof-CE build 24-Jun-2021
I'm now running the latest version UPupFF+D_20.12+7 and it's devx_upupff+d_20.12+7.sfs
Forum member @Kjellinux points to a problem with devx: viewtopic.php?p=31928#p31928
Today i did a quick test, trying to compile sylpheed-3.7.0, but it fails:
Code: Select all
# ./configure --prefix=/usr

checking whether make supports nested variables... (cached) yes
checking whether to enable maintainer-specific portions of Makefiles... no

@HerrBert
Thank you for raising - it's a Woof-CE problem - issue raised:
