Question about grub4dos startup screen in Asus eeepc

Post by kyou »

Hi guys,
sorry if i ask trivial questions, but i am still new to linux and i am trying to learn.

I would like to know if this screen is normal when I turn on my asus eeepc.

I have installed bionic pup 32 on the hard disk (ssd 4gb).

Why is grub4dos giving me two options to start bionicpup32 19.03?

Did I do something wrong at the time of installation?

I try to attach a photo ...

thank you all for your help and have a nice day.

Sometimes it could happen that during the setup an extra menu entry was inserted, but it is also possible that the boot stanza ( the configuration code in menu.lst) is slightly different with a boot up with different parameters set up.

To check out what is going on go to the hard disk partition root where the system is booting from, and look for menu.lst then open it up in geany and let's see what it contains. Post the configurations here and we can go over it.

But as far as right now to fix it if it is a duplicate stanza, once the menu.lst is open, simply delete the extra entry and save it. I have sometimes multiple options to boot the same operating system

How did you do this?
Specific details.

Normally when that happens you should try the links to see if they work. If both entries are identical, you can delete the second one, or just delete the one that does not work.

The menu is just a text file you can edit in Leafpad or Geany.

Hello everybody.
then the two links are identical.
as for the method of how i installed the operating system on the ssd, i did it like this.
with gparted I partitioned the ssd into two partitions, one ext4 with 2 gb and the other with linux swap with 814 mb.
to ext4 or assigned to boot.

That tells us how you partitioned.
How specifically did you get Bionicpup32 8.0 on the SSD?
