Hi!
Still the same problem with the touchpad configuration with psynclient. In the versions under Buster I was using the flsynclient package to work around the problem. I load flsyclient from there and it work! https://ftp.nluug.nl/os/Linux/distr/eas ... /t2/april/
For the rest, no problem for the moment. It's run good!
Bye!

Hi Barry,
tried to set up my printer with cups in Dunfell 2.7 and am experiencing the same difficulties as mentioned here The earlier easy that has a working set-up uses Foomatic/gdi with my supplied ppd, but I cannot see where I added any foomatic support when I got it working.
Do these later versions have (or should have) the Foomatic pkg in addition to Gutenprint?
thanks

Thanks for reporting. I have made a note to replace psynclient with flsynclient.

No, foomatic is missing. I will check that out, might be good to also have foomatic in next release.
I will need to read up on this. I seem to recall reading that the foomatic package is no longer required, cups has foomatic functionality builtin. Maybe. Or maybe the 'cups-filters' package.
brightness_tray is missing in EasyOS-Dunfell 2.7
I have used the EasyOS-Buster one. Works great.
Copied: /usr/local/brightness /usr/bin sct and /usr/local/X11/pixmaps/Bright.png
Hi FeodorF!
Also available in the Petget. I installed it and everything works perfectly!

Thanks for the feedback guys, I am gradually working through it!
The Foomatic PPDs will be in the next release:
https://bkhome.org/news/202104/foomatic ... asyos.html
Way back, when I bought my Brother HL2040, someone extracted the PPD from the Foomatic database and sent it to me. Since then, I always included it in Puppy, Quirky and Easy builds, at /usr/share/ppd/Brother-HL-2040-hl1250.ppd, which works fine for me in Easy 2.7. So I don't see any reason why these new ones out of 'foomatic-db-compressed-ppds' package won't work. But, we shall see.
Gee, I have had that Brother laser printer for a long time, see this post in 2007:
https://bkhome.org/archive/puppylinux/n ... -400a3.htm
...it might have been Paul ('pakt') who sent me that PPD.
EDIT:
yes, it was pakt:

Barry: Download http://www.profv.de/brother/Brother-HL-2040-hl1250.ppd , put it /root and run my CUPS dotpup. Just tried it - worked fine for my HL2030
Barry,
I have a Samsung ML-2010. It just keeps on working. I have never been able to make it work in a puppy or a dog unless I use ppm or apt to install the additional foomatic debs, making me partial to .deb compatibility flavors on my desktop. Without those debs, the "filter failure" error occurs. Other errors are more verbose allowing the user to trackdown the missing dependency. (most recently with easy it has been a missing rastertospl). The non-explicit "filter failure" error, though, has left me at a dead end with my limited trouble shooting skills.
The one exception to needing the additional debs, has been Easy Buster (until just recently). Since Dunfell has become the new flagship, I appreciate your ongoing efforts to support the Foomatic drivers.

Another bug bites the dust!
The next release of Easy will have flsynclient:

Feodor has sent me a fix for one cause of "filter failure", I have appended to this blog post:
https://bkhome.org/news/202104/foomatic ... asyos.html
At the rate things are moving along, the 2.7.1 release is probably not far away.
Just checked if my Samsung SCX-3405 printer/scanner unit works with this version of Dunfell - it does.
On the printer side I had to add:
/usr/share/ppd Samsung_SCX-3400_Series.ppd (SAMSUNG software)
/usr/libexec/cups/filter rastertospl (SAMSUNG software)
/usr/lib libscmssc.so (Samsung software)
and modify
/etc/cups/ pstoraster.convs
The scanner worked OOTB.
the additional step of adding libscmssc.so to /usr/lib is all that was needed to get my Samsung ML-2010 working in Dunfell 2.7
I expect the same fix should work in future versions, should Barry reconsider the addition of Foomatic to upcoming releases.
The needed driver, rastertospl and libscmssc.so were found at https://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/suld.html in 1.00.39 (driver2) as specified at https://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/supported.html.
/etc/cups/ pstoraster.convs was edited as Barry describes two posts above.
Thanks for the tweaks, FeodorF

I have created a PET, it will be in the next release:
https://bkhome.org/news/202104/support- ... nters.html
As the foomatic PPDs for samsung printers will be in the next release, I am not convinced that libscmssc.so is needed, perhaps just raster2spl?
Anyway, you can find out when Easy 2.7.1 is released -- you would probably have to erase your session before updating to 2.7.1, so that no other pre-installed files interfere with testing.
Hello eveyrbody, where you are on this moment.
Perhaps I ask a very stupid question.Excuse me for the time you spend reading this words
1. What is the difference between dunfell and easyos/buster
2. Can I use the debian / ubuntu repositories or add a repository
For me it is clouded at the moment, (for an insider misty)
kind regards, ,mio

The Dunfell release notes explain the difference between Buster and Dunfell:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/easyos/amd64/ ... -2.7.1.htm
For the Dunfell series, it is recommended not to install packages from a different distro such as debian/ubuntu.

Oh that gtk spinner widget again. I wonder what gtkdialog compiled from. On slacko build puppies it doesn't have that gtk spinner widget problem in gtkdialog
@mistfire
Thanks for the information. My problem with "slackos" is that my laptop has never been able to run it properly.
