How to use Broadcom 43142 wifi in Bionic64? (Solved)

Post by chimnya123 »

I have bionic 64 frugal install on my hdd. But I can't connect to wifi (using my cellphone s tethering). No wlan0 found .l used rfkill list all . But it's not hard blocked or soft blocked.
My lspci output is ----06:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries BCM43142 802.11b/g/n (rev01)
Can anyone could help me out with this issue

I also have Fossapup64 9.5 frugal install and having same problem. But @ozsouth helped me there. So I tried to repeat same process which I have used in fossapup.
I installed httpss://archive.org/download/Puppy_Linux_Skami_Driver_Repo/bcm4211-43142-wl-64-k5453.pet and tried these 2 command
Modprobe -rv bcma wl
Modprobe -v wl
Out put is --No wl module found
but no luck .

quickpet icon on desktop.
Run Quickpet->Info->Bionicpup updates
Reboot and save, so new changes are kept, and now being used.
One of the updates, is adding more stuff for Broadcom hardware.
However, not sure if it provides what your hardware needs.
But, the updates are stuff you need, to make Bionicpup64 8.0 run better.

Drivers are kernel specific, so have to be compiled for the specific kernel being used.
That pet is not going to work.

ozsouth is the Puppy Linux network hardware driver expert!! Well to us he is! :thumbup2:
Hopefully he will see this and give you some help.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

thank you @bigpup
I updated bionic from quickpet just as you said and got broadcom wl drivers in quickpet > drivers itself
After this setup was very easy (more than that i have done in Fossapup) :o
