Working very nicely in the 32-bitzers, too.....in this case, Sailor's Slacko 5.7.1, and radky's DPup 'Stretch' 7.5. No issues for me, though I'm not so sure about Ian, because I know he usually likes to run with a re-mastered LiveCD and no 'save'.

Hi Mike, I am finding good success with most pups but for some reason I cannot duplicate your success with Radky's Dpup Stretch.

I'm wondering if I am using a different version of xdotool or replaceit and maybe that is causing my issue?

Are you able to point me to the versions you are using please?

Cheers!

Hallo, GG.

Now; I've got a small confession to make. Shortly after posting the above, it quit working for ME in DPup as well. It's the only one, mind you.....attempting to start it from the terminal tells you absolutely nothing. It just goes straight back to the "#" prompt ready for input again.... (???)

Xdotool is built-in to Stretch. Replaceit, well, I'm thinking it's probably been deprecated, because the newest version I could find anywhere was from 2011.... Unless of course Rainer compiled a new one from scratch? (Doubtful, though, since everything else in the compiler tool-chain would probably be too new...)

Radky is the builder of JWMDeskManager; it's his 'baby'. It's baked-in to Stretch as a 'core component', so.....I can only surmise there's some conflict going on there which isn't getting reported. I'm at a loss there, TBH.

Sorry I can't help with that one.

Mike. ;)

@taersh :-

Just a quick 'update' for this brilliant utility:-

After using it in all my Pups for over 3 months, by the simple expedient of tracking down suitable versions of replaceit , xdotool and libxdo from the Ubuntu "old-release" archives, I'd like to offer "all-in-one" packages of this, for both 32-bit AND 64-bit Puppies. So far, I haven't found one that it won't work with..!! :D

Please find the .pets attached below.

Cheers!

Mike, your 32-bit pet is not working for me in Bionic. It installs but doesn't run from menu.

@amethyst :-

Huh. I don't run Bionic, of either arch.....it doesn't like my router, for some reason!

I did say that it works in every Pup I've tried it in.....which is not the same as EVERY Pup, period. I would guess the culprits are probably the replaceit and xdotool binaries, and the versions of libxdo I've used. Replace those with more date-relevant versions for Bionic, and you may be okay....although I doubt it's 'replaceit'. The newest version I could find of that dates from 2011.....and it's working fine for me in Fossa64.

EDIT:- Yes; replace 'xdotool' and 'libxdo' from the Bionic repos.....if they exist. If that's successful, take a look in /usr/lib and make sure 'libxdo.so.3' has a 'libxdo.so.2' sym-link pointing to it....

I make no guarantees. I can only suggest what I think might be the culprits; like I said, I don't run either of the Bionics, 'cos they just had too many 'issues', as far as I was concerned! My personal 'kennels' has settled down at a trio of UPups - 2 @ 64-bit, 1 @ 32-bit - Slacko 571 from Sailor Enceladus, and and a modified 'Quirky64' from BK/jrb. I doubt I'll try many more.....I shall concentrate on 'refining' these to work as well as I possibly can. They'll do for me.

(*shrug*)

Thanks but I'm not going on a fishing expedition. I'll just give the thing a miss as I normally edit these things manually anyway.
