Daedalus packages available vs from Devuan repositories

Post by libertas »

Hi,

There are a lot of packages not available through PKGget.
For example, matrix-synapse is not available, but it's available from
https://pkginfo.devuan.org/cgi-bin/poli ... *&x=submit

For other software, only older versions are available, like tcl version 8.6.13 vs 8.6.14 (devuan).

I'd like to know what is the correspondence between EasyOS Daedalus available packages and those provided by Devuan Daedalus repositories.
Are these packages customized for EasyOS?
Do they come from a Devuan repository that holds older versions?

PKGget accesses the normal Devuan package repositories, see /root/.packages/DISTRO_COMPAT_REPOS

Regarding PKGget showing older versions, go into "Setup" in PKGget and update the package database.

Well, I opened that file /root/.packages/DISTRO_COMPAT_REPOS as it seemed that there was no update process running after pressing the update button.
I couldn't access the http://deb.devuan.org server, but it was some dns issue from the router I'm connected to.
Changing it to another resolver solved the issue.

I also checked the package returned from https://pkginfo.devuan.org/cgi-bin/poli ... 6&x=submit and the newer version is from the Ceres and Excalibur development branches.

So, it seems it's all good with EasyOS.
Thank you BarryK.
