In Firefox settings.
You should be able to change the fonts and zoom setting and it will be used as you set it, as long as you have a save file/folder to store the changes in.
For fonts use also the settings in advanced........

Thunderbird should have similar settings.
Sorry I do not use Thunderbird.

I find that in Puppy, individual programs have their own settings, that take over control of the program, when it is running, overriding settings in the Puppy OS.
So zoom and font size have to be controlled by the programs settings/preferences.
What you want them to be when the program starts and is normally running.

If you are running Puppy with a save to store stuff in.
These settings/preferences should be used next time you run the program.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o
