I was attempting to track down possible cause and solution for a recent Palemoon GTK2 failure to launch,
ran the Sys-Info tool from Lighthouse 1.5.1 included in most Puppys. The utility runs as it should BUT, at the
end of the report, it mentions something about "for help visit the forum at Murga.com" or some such. This
should probably be updated to reflect the current forum address. Not sure is this wording is hardcoded or
just part of a script. As mentioned, it doesn't seem to affect the utility of the tool, as it has helped me track
down why this latest Palemoon I found didn't run! Next step will be to report to the maintainer of this 3rd
party build and see if a version using a tad older GLIBC can be built!

Re: Bug in Sys-Info System Information tool
at the end of the report, it mentions something about "for help visit the forum at Murga.com" or some such.
What specific report?
What specific version of Pup-Sysinfo?
This is fixed in the newer version of Pup-Sysinfo 3.6.3
It uses a doc file for the help
file:///usr/local/Pup-SysInfo/Help.html
The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.

Re: Bug in Sys-Info System Information tool
NOT Pup Sys-Info...the other one, kind of a comprehensive system information tool, from which you can launch Pup Sys-Info.
I'm not at my Puppy netbook at the moment, but if memory serves it is titled in the window SysInfo 1.5.1 by Lighthouse.
It saves the report as a text.gz file that you can attach to a post in the forum. I'll run it again when I get back on the old
Acer Aspire One AOA150! If someone wants, I'll save the output this time and add it to a post as attachment.

Re: Bug in Sys-Info System Information tool
I suspect it is hardcoded into Sys-Info 1.5.1, because it is picking up parts of "distro-specs" from the frugal directory as to version,
as well as where to post, etc. Might be able to use a hex editor to change the URL of the forum??? Have to make sure it doesn't
make a mismatch in size, etc.

Re: Bug in Sys-Info System Information tool
@Wiz57 I can't see a bug.
Sys-Info is an old tool and it's a bash script, not a binary. In all there are 4 links to the Murga forum in it.
You can change them with any text editor if you like, but what for? The URLs are still working!
From your example: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=60462 will be automatically redirected to https://oldforum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?t=60462

What for??? I respect your views as well as your scripting abilities, but if the tool/script contains errors in URLs, what other
errors are there? Besides, even though the URLs redirect, that forum is READ ONLY!! No posting! AND, the topic mentioned
in my report DOES NOT EXIST in the archives of the old Murga forum! SO, let's say a new user runs Sys-Info, and the instructions
tell them to post the report in say BookwormPup64 topic of http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy...WHERE will it redirect to?
Nowhere...well, not really Nowhere as that is a small crossroads convenience store/gas station (petrol station) located
north of Ft. Cobb, LOL! (In Oklahoma, USA, North America, western hemisphere, 3rd rock from the Sun)
Maybe I'll just go ahead and change the references to the Murga forum in my copy of Sys-Info, when tested to function, perhaps
post it somewhere on the forum? How to get it included in future WoofCE builds???? At least I now know it won't be an impossible task!

Re: Bug in Sys-Info System Information tool
OK, I opened the file Sys-info in Geany, and have changed the references to the old Murga forum
to point to this new forum's index page. I'll test it for a bit, maybe a day or so, multiple runs, etc.
If no issues show up, I'll make a new post and attach the updated script.

Re: Bug in Sys-Info System Information tool
I've ran the changed Sys-info script a few times and haven't noticed any abnormalities, links to the
other system info tools work, creates the reports, etc. The difference is where it informs the user to
post the results...it now directs you to this forum's index page, with notes to post in the topic related
to the particular Pup the user is running. So, I've attached the modified script if anyone would like to
give it a run.
The original script is located in /usr/sbin...what I'd do is rename the original to a "bak" file for backup,
then just copy this one to the same target directory and remove the fake "gz" extension.

Re: Bug in Sys-Info System Information tool
@Wiz57
Thanks for working on this!
Did you just volunteer to keep this program updated and bug fixed?
To make a topic for it in this forum?
Provide info in the program to it's topic in this forum?
Sorry I misunderstood the program you are talking about.
There is a sys-info-1.5.2-noarch.pet available at https://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/p ... es-noarch/
It does still refer to the murga forum topic for the program.

Re: Bug in Sys-Info System Information tool
Maybe there is none? There are many other and much more prominent old tools that have no dedicated thread on the new forum.
sys-info is not included in BW64 and FP96 and frankly I can't remember ever seeing this tool (which doesn't mean much). BW64 has at least 3 similar system info tools. Maybe no need for a 4th.
Only that needs to be updated?
Want more ?
References to murga-linux in at least 15 programs and documents in BW64 10.0.8.

Re: Bug in Sys-Info System Information tool
@bigpup @peebee @MochiMoppel
I didn't find a specific feedback topic here at the new forum, so I just replaced instances of
Murga-linux with the URL for the index page of this forum using Geany. I suppose the same
could be done for other scripts that have been mentioned. It isn't a show stopper, but does
help in consistency.
ps...just thought of something, with all the various Pups, Dogs, KLs and remasters of them, how many instances
of Murga-linux are there? All of these forum distros borrow from each other, have been built for years in some
cases. I could help edit the scripts, but this is going to take time and organization, will have to have a team
of people, each assigned certain scripts and given a template to follow and then submit those changes to
testers with the particular distro installed and willing to test! If no new bugs, these can then be incuded in
the WoofCE build system.
Any ideas/suggestions?

Re: Bug in Sys-Info System Information tool
The main reason for going through all of the effort to gain control of the murga-linux.com
domain name, then arranging a URL rewrite system is to be able to still use the millions of search results that come up with old murga-linux links. Including all of them in the million and more posts in the Murga forum (oldforum).
So basically the murga-linux.com
domain exists (registration fees need to be paid) and it contains the instructions on how to rewrite the URL using the Apache URL rewrite engine to the current https://oldforum.puppylinux.com
with the topic/post information amended to the rewritten URL.
Also there are millions of URL links in existence that are using http:
and not https:
which can cause havoc on the DNS resolving in these modern times of SSL encryption so to still accommodate these the URL rewrite code must account for this.
