You can change the settings endlessly, but "QEMU" still won't work with "Hyprland" as it should.

Code: Select all

/mnt/sda2/2-QEMU/QEMU-2.5.0-ubu16.04.AppImage qemu-system-x86_64 -enable-kvm -cpu host -smp 4 -device AC97 -vga cirrus -m 4G -name 'KLV-HyprlandCE-5.7' -boot d -hda /mnt/sda2/2-QEMU/VirtualHDD.img -cdrom /root/Downloads/KLV-HyprlandCE-5.7.iso

Within a KVM: ISO & SG2D ISO file boots with no issue to desktop. But Ventoy launch yields this:

Clarity, I think your report is a bit inaccurate. I think you mean that KLV-Hyperland is not booting using Ventoy run from QEMU, which is not the same as saying it does not run from Ventoy bare metal. Could you report back on actual Ventoy run bare metal please?

Ventoy running from QEMU is not itself important if it fails there since user can boot directly on QEMU anyway without needing Ventoy. I have a memory that mixing Ventory booting in QEMU is problematic though I can't recall the details of why that would fail, but again Ventoy is more important used bare metal since why would a normal user ever use Ventoy from QEMU?

I took the time to download the KLV-Hyperland iso and checked the relavent grub.cfg in the iso and it looks fine to me, but currently I don't have a Ventoy usb to try booting from bare metal where I am, but I recall your same report occurring before only to find on actual Ventoy bare metal test that the result was booted fine.

This boots correctly from my test version of ISObooter3 that now handles KLs.

ISObooter is a genuine bare-metal boot because there are no intermediate actors like Ventoy.

YES!

That was what I was trying to convey in the post. 2 methods boot within the KVM, while one does not.

I have yet to test the bare-metals launches as I was catching up with some of the untested forum distros on a PC that I often test using a KVM.

I have just upgraded a PC that I will be testing bare-metal launching this eve...assuming no distractions.

I ALWAYS test KVM booting results first.

It tells me what to look for when booting on bare-metal. Have discovered in the past that in many cases, what happens when testing in KVM will/do often show up on bare-metal.

So, for me, these KVM test results are relevant. (I alway post the QEMU stanza so that its easy for anyone to replicate the KVM results with little efforts on the developer/user's part.

This is the first time I have downloaded the latest KLV-HyprlandCE-5.7. All of the other installs have been done by running the build script. This install is on a new install on a desktop PC for the first time. In setting up I noticed the keybinds.conf contains 2 lines which are the same for gufw, which starts 2 iterations of gufw GUI. The 2 lines are: bind = $mainMod, N, exec, sudo env WAYLAND_DISPLAY="$XDG_RUNTIME_DIR/$WAYLAND_DISPLAY" XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/user/run/0 dbus-run-session -- gufw-pkexec.
I deleted one of the lines.

Running the installation I have mentioned in the previous post, I saw that there are 90+ updates available. I decided to update. The initial process runs to 99% then appears to freeze. There is a message to import the public key, but this step can't be completed as pressing y to proceed does not work. Any suggestion how to proceed?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Before using xbps package manager - Run in terminal .to accept the repository fingerprint.
run sudo xbps-install -S in a terminal and press Y then Enter

From now on I just won't answer stupid questions.

Thanks for such a kind response. Seems you've never forgotten to do something. My apologies for being so stupid.

A quick tutorial on how to lose even very helpful customers.

Please remember, even on rainy days, that the philisophical foundation of KL is inclusivity and collaboration, easy going entry through simplicity of implementation and freely shared build templates and generous freely provided help rather than any form of ownership.

There are always inherent rewards in the form of adoration and praise. KL: Keep the Love.
