Slic3r with LxPup

Hi,
I'm using LxPupBionic 19.03 32bit version and trying to get Slic3r to work.
Slic3r is a program to generate g-code to send to a 3D printer.
I updated the package manager and then installed the program. The package manager reported a successful install and the icon for the program appears in the menu.
Clicking on the menu icon does not start the program. However, running the program from a terminal works with a command line interface. Starting the program using slic3r --gui from the terminal reveals error messages like it can't find libwx_gtk2U_adv-2.9.so.3.
Has anyone successfully got the gui version to work on a 32bit machine and can share the process they used?
