@Jasonbc

Please, can you give more information? I need to know about your hardware, whether you are trying to install from Windows or Linux.
I need to know the application you are using to install Puppy Linux. What is your experience installing an operating system?

Please, try to imagine we swap places. I ask you about installing Puppy Linux.
You read about "Error - depends not met". Is there enough info for you to help me?

Do that and you will understand why I ask for more info about OS, method etc.
Here, in the forum, we like to help! Puppy is a great OS.
I'll wait for your answer. woof!

Is this what you are trying to install?

Boinc
https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php

This is the NoblePup32 you are using?
The latest version? (24.04-240717)

If yes to all my questions.

Boinc may take a little figuring out how to get it installed.

But you say nothing is installing you have tried.

So tell us exactly what you are doing to install what?

Being a 32bit operating system.
anything you install is going to need to be 32bit Linux software.

Nothing wrong with 32bit versions of Puppy Linux.
But Linux software is getting harder and harder to find it in 32bit.
If hardware can run 64bit.
64bit Puppy is better to use, if adding software is something you want to be available, with less issues.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

to the best of my knowledge, yes that sounds right.

it's an old gateway solo pro 9300 laptop. just trying to give it something responsible to do , other than sit in the closet.

Just the PPM.

I have the system installed fine , full install , not "frugal"

@Jasonbc :-

I'm sure it's not what you want to hear, but that ↑↑ right there ↑↑ is more than likely the issue here.

The "frugal" install is equivalent to a 'full' install in every way. Almost everything packaged and/or developed for Puppy is built to take this into account.

As I've always understood it, a 'full' Puppy install is the absolute LAST RESORT.....when every other option has failed to work for 'awkward' or extremely old hardware. Many of Puppy's software packaging standards are non-functional in a 'full' install.....and probably due to the advice NOT to create one, OR to use it, means that no more than cursory development time was ever spent on this option.

Like I said, I'm certain that's NOT what you want to hear.
