Testing a change made to the New Post search code <solved>

Post by rockedge »

We are now testing a change I made to the New Post search code that the dev's at phpBB have been trying out.

If it is performing worse than before I can reverse the change. Seems worth testing it though to see if we can get the New Post search function working like it did in earlier phpBB3 versions.

Tried it several times searching for specific keywords and it seem to be working just fine. Gave me fast results too.

I tried the same search before and after the 'changes' -dns nameserver- I don't have a record of the search prior but remember being frustrated before I found the right key words then. Just worked after.

Thanks,

My pups: LxPupSc64 and Voidpup64 with LXDE ydrv and synaptics touchpad drivers, using small savefiles for customizations. Ydrv based NoblePup64 and Fossapup64-low (both LXDE/PCManFM with no savefiles). Small common custom fdrv throughout. :thumbup2:

I have only ever used 'Unread Posts' from Quick links. I'm not really familiar enough with any of the other options to say much.

The "new posts" quick link seems to be working more like it used to for me.

The change appears to improve "New post", which before was often returning no result.

Thanks

The dev's at phpBB have seemed to have a fix! Here is the post informing us:

Good description of the problem:

The pull request:

I will make the changes as they are finalized and before the 3.3.13 update release.

I have applied the New Post patch to the forum's code manually to get ahead of the curve. It is now in place and hoping for some positive reports that the New Posts function is back to working like it did prior to the 3.3.12 update.

Seems to be working fine. Just for kicks, I typed "new posts" into search, results belows:
