I wonder why CrowdStrike didn't do an incremental rollout (since their code was not defending against a zero day exploit).

And why they would roll it out on a Friday, when their engineers will be off for the weekend when it hits.

Seems to me the entire debacle was not so much caused by bad code, as by not following industry-standard procedures for rolling out critical code.

Did you know that people can sue CrowdStrike? There are several already mentioned here. Bad luck on them.
