Can I choose what "save file" use to start? [SOLVED]

Post by pp4mnklinux »

Hello everybody:

I don't know if this is possible, if some of you have tested it or not, or if @BarryK has got this in mind...

It could be useful if u like to have different configurations (one for work, one for home, one for browsing....).

With F96CE_XFCE_FUSILLI (as you can see at the attached image) I have 3 differente save files, so each time I start the sistem I have the option to boot with one of them (and with another one (0) called NO SAVE FILE).

This is very useful for me, because when working, I have a full system with a lot of programs and adapted configurations, 5 browsers, recorders, editors, mail programs, graphics editors, file managers.... but I have an accelerated one with modifications to obtain the fastest speed, another for browsing (I use online software, like google docs, adobe photoshop.... all of them online) and some time I start with a no configured system to record videos or to explain things to newbies.

Is this posible to do with Easy?

I know it could be a very specific /personal demmand, so don't waste time on it, only is a curiosity I have and that could be useful for some users.

Have a nice day.

CHEERS, pp4mnk

That is difficult to do, as EasyOS does not have a save-file.

But it is easy to do just by having different frugal installations.

You can also do that if booting off a usb flash drive.
Just create another folder, with vmlinuz, initrd and easy.sfs in it and make an entry in Limine menu.

Thanks @BarryK :

As you can see in the image, I have a distribution as your suggested one with different puppies.

I only need to choose the puppy (or EasyOs) I wanna run (menu.lst) and then start it.

With EasyOs, what I did is install it in one partition (a folder) and I have the USB too.- But trying to accelerate start, I used blkid command to configure the easyos usb as a fixed disk, so when I start the computer, I don't need to press F8 to choose the boot folder, instead of this, in the menu.lst I have the USB option to start.

As you suggested to me, it is easy configure two different folders to start with EasyOS, what happens is that I prefer to use only one folder and inside of it the diferent "versions".

But as I told u at the first post, it's only one particular organization so don't worry at all about it, haha.

Have a nice day.-

Enjoy.
