Can EasyOS BE recovered to a previous state? [SOLVED]

Hello everybody:

Some hours with Easyos and I cant start the system because I made an error.

Is there any way to recover the system to a previous state when it works correctly?

How can I do it?

In puppy you have a savefile.4fs, and I read in some place that you can recover your system with easyos

Roll-back, roll-forward
With Easy, you can take a snapshot, and later on roll-back to it. Then, you can roll-forward. This can work across version changes, kernel changes. This mechanism applies to the main filesystem as well as the containers. The link below has more information.

No, I didn't take it, but with time and "luck" I recover it, but I wanna be ready for next time (it will come 4 sure haha).

Look in the menu under file system, choose Easy Version Control. You can then take a snapshot.

If you have a working system, you can rollback via the "Shutdown" menu choices.

Or, if broken system, the initrd menu has rollback choices, see photo here:

It is a good precaution, after getting everything setup, network connection, audio, etc., then take a snapshot.

I tested it, and I created a snapshot, now I must try to "understand" how to recover it, how it works, where it is located, how to identify different snaps....

Because my main doubt -at this moment- is how to recover the state if I can't start easyos, that is...

With puppy, I used pbackup to create a copy of the savefile and it was really easy recover it, you only need to start with other puppy linux, go to the frugal installation folder of the distro you wanna recover, and change the save file with the backup. Really simple.

Can u do this or something similar in easy??

While I was writing it the snapshot has finished and it asked me for an identification title.... so, as I said, I continue testing, haha

Worse case, access the EasyOS partitions with some other Linux, copy the files to a safe place, re-burn EasyOS and put the files back. That may work. In one of my other posts you will see my little "backup" script. All I do is rsynch the 2nd EasyOS partition (where everything is) to a folder on one of my SSDs. If my Easy blows up, I'll just make a new virgin Easy and copy those files back.

I must test it, because before writing this doubt, I tested it and it told me that it can't copy some files... I don't know why, but as I told u... I must test and I'll ask you again in case of problems.

Hello everybody:

Trying easy os, I found a utility that makes a remaster of your system (easy.sfs) and I think you can restore your OS to a functional moment.

It is called EASY REMASTER and you can find it in you EasyOs menu.

MENU - CONFIGURATION- EASY REMASTER

It takes about 12 minutes to make the remaster, but I think with this you have a full restauration point (correct me, please, if I am in error)

Its size, in my easyos, is about 768Mb, and It saves drivers and software.

Remastering EasyOS is the process of creating a custom version of the EasyOS operating system that includes specific applications, settings, or configurations tailored to the user's needs.

This process allows users to build a personalized version of the operating system that can be easily deployed on multiple machines or shared with others.

Really interesting option, because, IN MY OPPINION, it gives a lot of benefits:

It allow you to Customice your EASY OS by tayloring the OS to your specific requirements, including preferred applications and settings.
You can create a portable version of your system that can be used on multiple machines, because you can put in in a USB and take all advantages.
The reason I start using it, you can maintain a backup of your customized setup for easy restoration in case of system failure and you can share a pre-configured, ready-to-use version of EasyOS with others (there is a final step in which you decide if you include your drivers or not)

Try it if you are interested.

If you are responding to me, that may be because your destination partition is not ext4. I hadn't thought of that since my only concern is my por... I mean videos on how to uh ... feed and shelter homeless people; yeah that's it. lol and an NTFS partition works fine for that. The apps and stuff I use can all be reinstalled in a couple minutes.

TL:DR
Try rsyncing to an ext4 partition instead.
