Re: new install for Brother printers
That is getting a little old and most printer manufactures are giving better support to Linux.
However, the first post in this topic is still good information:

Getting the needed driver and running Cups to setup the printer is usually what you need to do.
Brothers now has this:

I do not have a Brothers printer, so no help by me how it works.
There is a list of models that this installer should work for.
The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.

Re: How to use Brother printers in Bionicpup?
Go to the brother website. Search the driver and download section for your model. Read the section about pre application procedures and download the brother installer in .Deb format.
The printer drivers (at least for mine) only came in 32 bit version. They don't make that clear so if you're running a 64 bit os you will need to install lib32 before downloading your installer. Once the installer is downloaded, click on it. It will fetch the printer and scanner drivers and install them. With mine the printer worked right away but I had to reboot for the scanner to work.
