Problem with fonts (solved)

Hello,

I would like to expose a problem I got with fonts.

I began to use Xenial, which is good for me. I used formely Precise for a long time, but as I got a more powerfull computer (not so powerfull,unfortunatly, but better than the old one), I choosed Xenial 32 bit to go on with Puppy.

On Xenial, I can specially use a very good app for ancient greek, Eulexis, which does not work on Precise,

BUT

with Xenial, another app for philology, Golden Dict (portable), does not show some greek fonts (accentuated), as it shows on Precise. I dont understand why, because I installed the same fonts on Xenial, and the app is the same one for the 2 systems (it is on the same partition).

Of course, I could use Precise for Golden Dict and Xenial for Eulexis, but I'd like to use both at the same time (with Xenial).

It is a real mystery for me.

Anyone could help?

PS: I have problem too with JDownloader (java, I guess) which works fine on Precise, but not on Xenial.
PS2: I don't know if with my computer I can install a 64 bit system, which seems to be better. But it is another subject...

"Does not show" means what? Do the characters display, but not with the font you selected, or do only some of them display or do none on them display (only as white blocks)?

Which fonts did you install? Are you saying that some of them display ancient Greek correctly and some don't? Please name a font that doesn't.

Though you obviously have no problems with these "bad" fonts in Eulexis, do you have the same problems when you use them in other applications, e.g. Abiword?

Do the fonts appear in the font selection dialog?

If the problem is only about certain characters, then please post a short sample text containing these characters.

I apologize not to be able to answer you before but I was very busy with other task.

I just solved the problem this way;

in the GodenDict folder features the font IFAOGrec.ttf which is used by the app.
In Precise, this font IS NOT in the Fonts folder (user/share/fonts) but the app display the font.

On Xenial, I had the idea to grasp this font into the font folder on AND... suddenly the text was correctly displayed.

Mistery of informatics. But I am very glad I could solve it.
