Firefox install fails (solved)

Post by fbagnato »

Hello all,

Am wanting to install Firefox on S15Pup64.

I search for Firefox in the Package manager and select mozilla-firefox-115.8.0esr and select "Do it!"

The install starts, whizzing past many commands then ends with a "Failed" result.

Any ideas as to why?

Regards,

fbagnato

Did you update the Puppy Manager Database?

I usually download Firefox directly from the firefox web site.

it should download and install a firefox directory inside your /opt/ folder. You would probably need to add a desktop shortcut dragging the executable file to your desktop. But it usually works fine.

Another detail, you need to run this command to get sound from firefox in most of the puppy linuxes:

Code: Select all

apulse /opt/firefox/firefox

Hello @fernan

Thanks for your reply.

I realised that if I use the "Internet/Get Web Browser" menu option I was successfully able to install Firefox from an SFS file.

All fixed!
