How to make a Brasero .iso?

Post by Governor »

I found the brasero package on my system, and tried to create an ISO of my current setup, but it failed.
Does anyone know how to get it to work?
Thanks.

@Governor :-

Mm. Personally, I wouldn't bother with it.....10 yrs ago, it was nothing but trouble, and fora were full of folks complaining about it.

I suspect you're getting muddled up here. I think you're confusing "burning an ISO" with "creating an ISO". The two are totally different operations. You cannot "burn" an ISO to disc UNTIL you've created one....

If it's a backup you're wanting, why don't you simply copy the 'save', and 'paste' it into an external location? That's what most of us do. Oh, wait; I forgot. You have this weird "issue" where you don't seem to be able to save anything at all (which I STILL don't understand)....

So; I'm guessing you want to create an ISO of your Puppy, including all the apps you use. That's what we call re-mastering; I've never done it myself, but plenty of others here can help you with that...

Hang in there. Someone'll be along soon.

Mike. ;)

Puppy "stuff" ~ MORE Puppy "stuff" ~ ....and MORE! :D

IIRC, you are booting and running Puppy from a CD, correct? If when you burned that CD and "finalized" or closed it, you cannot
use any unused space on the CD to save anything to, whether that be a savefile/savefolder or creating an ISO. You can only
utilize a mounted partition on a separate storage device, such as a USB thumb drive, internal hard drive, etc. So, check and
see where you are instructing whatever ISO creator you are using to place your ISO to...same goes for savefile/savefolder.
It may be quicker in the long run to write a new bootable CD, and leave it "open" so you can add further changes to it as needed.

Yes, I run Puppy in RAM-only mode after booting from a CD. Uptime is now 9 days and 9 hours.

I want to save my current Puppy installation (with settings intact) to an ISO file on my Ventoy thumb drive, so I can boot from there.
I prefer to boot from a thumb drive and not a CD, if at all possible. I am out of CDs, so If I have to write to a CD, I will have to order some.

I had tried to create the ISO file directly onto my thumb drive when I got the error log I included in my original post. I am open to alternative methods or apps (as long as they work!). I just want to be able to reboot my laptop and preserve my current configuration.
Thanks.

@Governor - It is possible to make a savefile with all your settings, convert it to a ydrv & make an iso of the original puppy files with your ydrv included. Quite fiddly, but I tested it in fossapup64 today.
