@mikeslr

I have tried to compile the last build and realised that I need to use WebkitGTK as the HTML renderer.

I tried the oldest/newest builds but was unsuccessful in compiling the application. It might be available in the PPM, I did not check

The three additional libraries added to Fossapup64 were:

libxml2-2.9.14 - XML C parser and toolkit
https://www.mediafire.com/file/7d5gs6wh ... 4.pet/file

libarchive-3.7.2 - Multi-format compression library
https://www.mediafire.com/file/41d5p6zq ... 4.pet/file

libgringotts-1.2.1 - C Library for gringotts (Data Encryption)
https://www.mediafire.com/file/3ehs1ckw ... 4.pet/file

For WebKitGTK it needed this library as dependencies:

icu4c-74-1 - C/C++ libraries providing Unicode and Globalisation support for software applications

Tiny binary application to use for spell checking files

enchant-2.6.3
https://www.mediafire.com/file/2wzb3mqt ... 4.pet/file

To use open up terminal and enter

enchant-2 -l <filename> (that's a lowercase L)

As it works with Hunspell so handy for FreeOffice & Palemoon

hunspell-1.7.2 - Hunspell is the spell checker of LibreOffice, OpenOffice.org, Mozilla Firefox & Thunderbird, Google Chrome

Thanks, Jasper. I'll explore your effort when (a) I'm actually awake; and (b) I set up a 'virgin' deployment of Fossapup64. I've modified mine so much that it's likely something would interfere with it.

iw-6.7 -nl80211 based CLI configuration utility for wireless devices. It supports all new drivers that have been added to the Linux kernel recently.

The old tool iwconfig, which uses Wireless Extensions interface, is deprecated and it's strongly recommended to switch to iw and nl80211.

@galen

The simple answer is "No".

It is just an "all-in-one" application to view/listen to m3u streams. All the libraries/dependencies are contained within.

freetuxtv requires compiling with libVLC (VLC library).

Last update from me for 2023

ffmpeg-6.1.1 - Multimedia library .... includes ffprobe and ffplay

Thanks to a major refactoring of the ffmpeg command-line tool, all the major components of the transcoding pipeline (demuxers, decoders, filters, encodes, muxers) now run in parallel. This should improve throughput and CPU utilization, decrease latency, and open the way to other exciting new features.

Note that you should not expect significant performance improvements in cases where almost all computational time is spent in a single component (typically video encoding).

Fresh start for 2024!!

VeraCrypt is a free open source disk encryption software.

VeraCrypt main features:

Creates a virtual encrypted disk within a file and mounts it as a real disk.
Encrypts an entire partition or storage device such as USB flash drive or hard drive.
Encrypts a partition or drive where Windows is installed (pre-boot authentication).
Encryption is automatic, real-time(on-the-fly) and transparent.
Parallelization and pipelining allow data to be read and written as fast as if the drive was not encrypted.
Encryption can be hardware-accelerated on modern processors.
Provides plausible deniability, in case an adversary forces you to reveal the password: Hidden volume (steganography) and hidden operating system.

More information about the features of VeraCrypt may be found in the documentation

The Swiss army knife of lossless video/audio editing.

LosslessCut aims to be the ultimate cross platform FFmpeg GUI for extremely fast and lossless operations on video, audio, subtitle and other related media files.

The main feature is lossless trimming and cutting of video and audio files, which is great for saving space by rough-cutting your large video files taken from a video camera, GoPro, drone, etc.

It lets you quickly extract the good parts from your videos and discard many gigabytes of data without doing a slow re-encode and thereby losing quality. Or you can add a music or subtitle track to your video without needing to encode. Everything is extremely fast because it does an almost direct data copy, fueled by the awesome FFmpeg which does all the grunt work.

Atop is an ASCII full-screen performance monitor for Linux that is capable of reporting the activity of all processes (even if processes have finished during the interval), daily logging of system and process activity for long-term analysis, highlighting overloaded system resources by using colors, etc.

At regular intervals, it shows system-level activity related to the CPU, memory, swap, disks (including LVM) and network layers, and for every process (and thread) it shows e.g. the CPU utilization, memory growth, disk utilization, priority, username, state, and exit code.

atop-2.10.0
https://www.mediafire.com/file/39u5j5gy ... 0.pet/file

Examples
atop (Generic screen gives an overview of the consumption on system and process level of the four major hardware resources, i.e. cpu, memory, disk and network)

atop -B (Shows the utilization of the processors, memory/swap, disks and network interfaces as (character-based) bar graphs in four separate windows)

atop -S (Sshows specific scheduling information about the main thread of each process, like scheduling policy, nice value, priority, realtime priority and cpu-number (current or last used) and state)

atop -M (hows specific memory-related information per process like total virtual and resident size (column VSIZE and RSIZE) and the virtual and resident growth during the last interval (column VGROW and RGROW). The memory percentage (column MEM) shows the resident memory occupation by this process, because that is what matters when your system starts swapping)

atop -D (The lines with label LVM (logical volumes) and DSK (underlying physical disks) shows the disk-activity on system level)

atop -V (Shows miscellaneous information about processes, like credentials (real uid and real gid), parent process-id, start date and start time, etc)

Ocenaudio comes with a series of built-in effects, filters (like normalisation), and tranform markers, and the record options are surprisingly easy-to-use and efficient. For instance, you can move the cursor to record the stop position and preroll. You can overwrite selected areas of the audio file, as well as perform a series of basic recording, configuration, and editing jobs.

Other noteworthy tools include the ability to rearrange and rationalise selected portions of the audio file, as well as copy, cut, and paste sections to and from the file, and enhance everything with the help of filters, compressors, and various 11 and 31 band graphic equalizers and mixers.

The app also supports a wide range of plug-ins including various VSTs, and comes with a various audio manipulation, correction, pitch, and tempo changers. Complex editing is not Ocenaudio's forte, but truth be told, it does offer pretty much everything a beginner might need.

For instance, the app provides file analysis via FTT and Statistics menus (with a plethora of analytical views). The Statistics include basic info regarding the markers, the artwork, resolutions size, memory, and extension sizes.

FFQueue-1.7.64

FFQueue is (yet another) graphical user interface for FFMpeg with comprehensive support for both the basic features but also the more advanced features like filtergraphs.

FFQueue makes it easy to create multiple jobs and process them as a single queue.

FFQueue can sort out the most significant output from FFMpeg and display it in the graphical console and save it to a HTML-based (color coded) logfile for easy review when the queue has been processed.

https://www.mediafire.com/file/0bipd6qp ... 4.pet/file

Please note:

The GUI will display which build of FFMPeg you are using/installed on your OS.

The application is installed in

/usr/bin

it will automatically detect which build of FFMpeg you have installed as long as it is in the same directory.
