FossaDog is a fork of "DebianDog" with the difference that it's Ubuntu based.

Included in the ISO is a setup script (+dependencies) "weeinst" to easy install the grub4dos bootloader, see also here (similar):

Extract, or mount the ISO and copy the contents to HDD or USB and run:

Yes indeed doesn't work, I added new evince package version 1:2.32.0-2 to the repo, it should work ok from what I tested.

I did a manual frugal install of this on my hp 2540p laptop.

Booted fine. Wifi config was fine after a few tries.

Firefox wouldn't start and gave me this error in the terminal.

/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgtk-3.so.0: undefined symbol: g_mount_operation_set_is_tcrypt_hidden_volume
Couldn't load XPCOM.

edit: I get the same error when I try to launch my firefox portable and my vivaldi portable.

edit again: used md5sum to check the download and it was fine, so that's not it.

I could reproduce only half, from tint2 panels Desktop, firefox runs ok for me.
But running portable firefox I got the same error you got, but runs ok when using full path e.g. from root terminal:

Not when running ./ff from firefox_79.0_64 directory.
So, a bit mysterious, but... I think, after some digging and a bit of luck, I found that the reason for this is because of the workaround I made for pcmanfm to show drive icons, renaming script pcmanfm /usr/local/bin/ to pcmanfm.bak solved it for me (but then no drive icons will show in pcmanfm), workaround wrote at first post:

Can you test if renaming to pcmanfm.bak solves it for you ? After that restart X, and see if firefox and portable firefox/vivaldi runs ok.

Okay, the first thing I did was change the desktop from pcmanfm/lxpanel to tint2, Local firefox worked, but portable didn't.

Then I went back to pcmanfm/lxpanel, confirmed local firefox didn't work, then renamed /usr/local/bin/pcmanfm, restarted x, and tried again. Local firefox and portable firefox both worked.

Let me know if there is anything else you'd like me to check.

No urgency from me for any of this, I was testing for the sake of testing.

Yes, that's what I expected, but now I know for sure.
The pcmanfm workaround is bad, I don't know how to make pup-volume-monitor work properly now, so probably will switch to gvfs in next release to show drive icons in pcmanfm.

Seems to be working fine, nothing too criminal. At least for my basic needs as I use it heavily modified anyway.
'Create squashfs' is missing from the right click menu in the pcmanfm.
'Compress' option in the same right click menu doesn't do anything, if it supposed to do anything (I just usually install file-roller and it pops up from this option). Probably something needs to be set up from the pcmanfm preferences.
'Upgrade Kernel' is not present (at least yet).
'xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu' is not installed but gpu worked anyway, presumably on radeon driver, so probably not needed. 'Amdgpu' driver is for modern and even not very modern amd cards, 'radeon' is for old cards and 'ati' is probably for something very old. My amd video for reference (after installing amdgpu bits)

Quick remaster works OK for me, can you give some more details about your setup ?, (e.g. booting from USB or HDD, kernel boot command or anything/something special about it , so I can possibly try to reproduce).
You did have enough space on the boot partition ?
Was there no progress bar at all, or did it stop at some point?
What is your boot partition (mountpoint e.g. /mnt/sdb1 or ....), check with:

There is nothing wrong with the Quick-Remaster.
Reason for that Bug was .....i did install E23 Enlightenment-Desktop.

Seems i found a Solution....
Solution ......i switched back into to Openbox-Session for performing quick-remaster ...so it worked without any Problems......

After Quick-Remaster and Reboot (into E23-Enlightenment Desktop)....even in Enlightenment Desktop i am now able to perform the Quick-Remaster.
Only flaw ....Progress-Bar is not working in Enlightenment Desktop Environment...but Remaster is performed correctly.
So I regard this Problem as solved.

Regarding why Quick-Remaster in E23 Enlightenment Environment... Progressbar does not show any Progress----- (Progress-Bar is shown but does not react....) but further Notifications "01-filesystem created".... and so on ....are working .
Have absolutely no Idea Fred.
But it does not really bother me as long it works .Just a cosmetic Issue .

Overheating Problems don't occur.
System/Machine is running very cool,fast and smooth....light as a Feather.

This Overheating Problems seems to be not "Buster" specific .... Bionicpup64 8.0 CE
also causing Heat Problems on my Machine.

Now with UEFI support, many thanks to @jamesbond, for guiding me kindly how to do it and also thanks to @Clarity for the support .

I'd appreciate if anyone with an UEFI system can test.
Specially a manual install by copying files to USB, see in ISO "ReadMe-UEFI".
I can't really test myself, because my hardware doesn't support it, although I did test with qemu virtualization UEFI boot and seems to work fine.

Other major change is that the kernel is now a separate .squashfs, see more at Changes and Fixes

I'll get to testing UEFI in the morning, but until then, a few small problems I have noticed in an otherwise amazing distro.

1.) The firewall status icon doesn't start because the script is looking for awk in /usr/local/sbin rather than /usr/bin(I think is where it is, not at the computer right now. Fixed temporarily with a symlink.

2.) The web browser icon in the top tint2 'dock' doesn't seem to run with apulse, though the ones in the menu did, as do the ones on the rox desktop, pcmanfm desktop, etc. I didn't look at the time, but maybe related to it calling x-www-browser or something rather than FF directly?

3.) One of the memory conky objects has 'MiiB' as a unit instead of 'MiB', with the extra eye being hardtyped into the config and easily removed. Purely cosmetic, but while I am at it lol.

Please don't take this as nitpicky, those are honestly the only problems I have really had, even with FossaDog in alpha.

UEFI boot works OK! Flash drive was marked as UEFI in bios. Boots fine. But somewhat slower (maybe it's due to fat32 or flash drive is not very good, can't do extensive tests now) than normal (legacy) boot.
The only problem is that UEFI boot requires fat32 and weeinst doesn't work from fat32 xD Good thing I used already bootable fat32 drive. And only option for saving on fat32 is to the savefile 'changes.dat'

Well I've tried the other Dogs so I thought I'd try this one. However, my record on getting them to work with a save folder rather than save file is abysmal. I only managed to do this once and that was with a lot of help. In keeping with this record I've failed again. Here is the setup I'm using. I have a 40GB 2.5 inch ide HDD which came from an old laptop. It's plugged into an adapter which allows it to be used as a USB drive. It has two partitions. sda1, formatted ntsf at just over 9 GB and sda2, formatted ext3 at about 28GB. I have both buster dog and racy551 on sda1. I did not manage to create a save folder for buster dog, though I did try, so sda2 has nothing on it. Buster dog has a save file on sda1. I did a manual frugal install of fossa dog on sda1. I'm using grub4dos to boot both buster dog and racy so it was relatively easy to boot fossa dog. All I did after booting was to set up the wifi then I shutdown. As part of the shutdown process I was give the option of creating a save file or a save folder. I chose save folder. This is where things start to become confusing. I was asked to choose a folder in which the save folder called "changes" would be placed. I migrated to sda2 and chose "create folder". I named my folder f-dog-sf. I was told that this folder could not be used as it was not on a linux partition even although sda2 is a linux partition. I repeated this but this time did not choose a folder. This time the "changes" folder was accepted and written to sda2 and was used to save the changes. Now we come to the next problem that of the "cheat code" I looked at "Examples-boot-codes.txt". Below is the one I considered most relevant to me.

"Recommended to put the casper folder in a folder with unique name, e.g. Fossa_Dog, then use this:"

Can you suggest how I can get fossa dog to use the save folder that was created using the fossa dog shutdown routine or if not is there a way to make a save folder that can be got to work.
