Re: Questions about BionicPup32's Desktop from a newcomer's perspective...

BookwormPup32 is a newer version of Puppy.
viewtopic.php?t=10087

Understand it is still being developed and may still have a few bugs.
But overall it works and can be used to do stuff.

The developer of it, would probably like the know how it works on your computer.

how can I remove the drive icons from the desktop whenever a new drive is installed onto the computer? Those are controlled by the Puppy Event Manager ->Rox Icons tab But you really should keep them showing and not try to remove them. They are there for a good reason, after some time of using Puppy...

Re: How to Tune Up a PuppyLinux Frugal Install on a Virtual Machine

BookwormPup64 is setup to use zram setup. zram is a Linux kernel module for creating a compressed block device in RAM, i.e. a RAM disk with on-the-fly disk compression. The block device created with zram can then be used for swap or as a general-purpose RAM disk. The two most common uses for zram ar...

Pup-Sysinfo ->Sys-Specs ->Distro Specs Good info if the developer of the Puppy version is providing the correct info in the Distro Specs. There have been reports, that this did not get updated with new info, several times in different Puppy releases. But this will always be correct for the needed in...

If this drive is that sensitive to doing anything on it. I suggest that something in wrong with it's complete setu...

What type and speed is the memory in the computer?

What is the CPU in it?

I would not judge anything by how the browser works.
To many things affect them,
You already talk about one of the biggest things. What web sites is it displaying.

Here is something in Woof-CE many people could get involved in. Updating the software that is in the Woof-CE/noarch repository. https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE-noarch/tree/master/pet_packages-noarch If any of these have newer versions they need to be in this repository. Re: Shouldn't we be *selling* woof-CE?

As I see it. There must be something about Woof-CE that works or no one would use it. The problem with Woof-CE is no one is in overall control of it. Any control that is there, is very loosely done. That was one of the jobs 01micko had, but last I saw any info from him was, I am not working on Puppy...

This has been an issue for years. I say make default not save, if you have it set to ask at shutdown. to save or not save. What default for save should be set to, is usually how you want to help new users of Puppy. They may not fully understand this save thing. So default set to save, can keep them ...

If booting from a CD install. You are not going to be able to edit the boot loader menu entry to get it to run in Pupmode 13. All the files are on the CD and they can not be edited. They are all read only, because that is how it is when burned to a CD. If you do a live install to a USB. Files on the...
