Re: A few minor issues after remastering Fossapup

maggie No "stupid" to be handed out. I've done remasters for many years and always wanted mine to be exact duplicates of my custom setup including desktop background and icons. The standard remaster has always required manipulation to do that part and it took a lot of reading, help and tr...

Re: DVD ripping and VAMPS shrink. How??

rockedge Glad you found it useful, as I said, just "notes to self" on what & how I got things to work. When you don't do any copying for a while it's easy to forget what worked, anyway it is for me. The different methods have success rates that depend on if and what kind of encryption...

Re: DVD ripping and VAMPS shrink. How??

greengeek With dpup stretch 7.5rc5 I have used pdvdrsab to rip, shrink (try size 3900), author, and burn dvd's. One important factor that hasn't been mentioned is the output file must be written to a ext3 or 4 partition, may also work on ntfs. Using mplayer to rip a dvd can sometimes bypass encrypt...

Re: GUI file finder for Puppy?

pfind is one of my most used applications, you may find it useful to have it as the first icon on the jwm taskbar right next to the menu button. To add it: - click menu>desktop>JWMDesk Manager>Launch. - Locate pfind in the Avaiable Application section, when you click it, it will appear in the Panel ...

Re: GUI file finder for Puppy?

XFE file manager, available in the ppm, also has a search function built in Tools>Search files or the shortcut ctrl f.

I believe PCmanfm file manager also has a built in search, although I don't use it.

Re: Time for a new Lappy ?

Find the article a bit humorous too. The 3-5 year timeline would be good if you want or need to keep up with the latest hardware technology. After 3 years the biggest things a typical laptop needs are: 1.inspection and physical cleaning of the cooling fan and heat sink (blow out with "canned ai...

Does your TaoTronics Portable Bluetooth Transmitter for TV have low enough latency to work with videos and not produce lip sync problems? I've tried several and all failed that test.

How I disabled Firefox's auto update

I've seen Firefox's annoying automatic update referenced several time in the forums. I personally find this offensive since my experience has been tha...

Re: Fossa64 9.5 screensaver overheating cpu

Turning off the compositor stops the overheating, but it also disables conky's transparent background. Turning the compositor on and choosing BackEnds>Xrender restores the transparent background AND stops the overheating.

@greengeek

Per foxpups message, disable hibernation. Also disable Windows Fast Boot, which is a partial hibernation (should be disabled anyway, as it is a source of trouble)

Hi grey, I tested your smplayer and it works. It requires that you have chrome or chromium (and maybe other chrome based) set as your default browser. The browser is actually what does the casting.
