Fonts - TTF pdingobats2 - fonts.scale & font.dir? [SOLVED]

G'day, I have an irregular but minor problem with conky and pwidgets in regard to displaying pdingobats2 icons. Sometimes, on starting a Puppy (32-bit or 64-bit), I get the letter equivalent not the desired mini-icon. If I delete the fonts-scale and/or fonts-dir ? text files in /usr/share/fonts/defa...

Re: Wine in 64FossaPup?

G'day, Thanks all for your consistent advice. Loading the Fossa compatibility 32-bit libs sfs fixed my problem. My old Bionic 32-libs sfs was not working in Fossa and looks to have been my problem. I did not need to replace the wine in my wine+programs sfs nor fiddle around with the wine portable to...

G'day, Thanks for those quick replies :o , all encouraging that I'm the problem, not FossaPup  . By the way, don't you Northern Hemispherians ever sleep - aren't the nights are supposed to be very long for you now? Or is it a Covid 'thing' keeping you indoors? Anyway, after posting my question...

Wine in 64FossaPup? [SOLVED]

G'day,
Is there a Wine (pet, portable or sfs) that will run in 64FossaPup?
For me, the 32-bit portable wine runs in 64BionicPup (and some other 64-bitzers), but not in 64FossaPup.
Thanks for any guidance.

G'day Exton, Thanks for replying to my post regarding printing and scanning not working for me in PuppEX Focal. I don't know how the Puppex Bionic showed in Conky - I use a shared profile for most things and was using PuppEX Bionic to try to fix my PuppEX Focal problems as PuppEX Bionic does scan an...

Re: PuppEX Focal64 - Printing & Scanning?

G'day Exton, Thanks for another comprehensive new PuppEx. I have only started to explore this one but have found two major (for me) problems: 1. CUPS won't log-in to its localhost (screenshot): I've tried varying the firewall setting to no avail; browsing is fine (posting from Focal64 now). My Epson...

Re: Need help on deciding between Slacko, ScPup, and Fossa

G'day r96chase, If you boot from the hard-drive, why not install all Puppies you'd like to try and see which you prefer. None will take much room and you need not delete any you initially don't like, just in case you change your mind about your initial preference. If booting from a USB, again instal...

Re: Network Printing

G'day, I have no problem with BionicPup64 and all other Pups (including 32-bit) accessing and using my networked Epson printer. I use the CUPS printer wizard (in the Setup Menu) and the default browser (usually seamonkey) with an installed Epson driver package for my model (WF-2510). Is your problem...

Re: Filter Failed error in CUPS BionicPup64

G'day vtpup, This may be irrelevant for your printer but with my Epson printers, I get this message when I'm missing a ld-lsb link in /lib: e.g. a link from ld-2.17.so.0 is needed as ld-lsb.so.3 in 32-bit Alas, in 64-bit, it is complicated by the range of lib directories and needs extra naming so th...

Re: Puppy Linux 8.0 not detecting Wireless

G'day Meta Master, When I get this problem, particularly playing with a new kernel, it's caused by missing firmware. Always self-inflicted in my case  but I don't know if you've had a problem with the Puppy during the install. Check with Rox file manager what's in the /lib/firmware directory. ...

Re: pcputemp - yet another tray temp monitor

G'day, I run old HP desktops which use a particular smsc module to monitor these temps - not coretemp. In my collection of Pups, I haven't added pcputemp, just go with the one included by the deveoper of the Pup. In most cases, on booting, I get a message on start-up that the various-Pups-included p...

G'day peebee,
Just noticed you'd withdrawn k-5.8.3.
I've run it happily for a while in BionicPup64-8.0 last night and now this morning in a ScPup64-20.01-2T if this is of interest re its withdrawal.
Keen to see a fixed(?) version if offererd.
Thanks as always,

Font pdingobats2 in Conky & Pwidgets

G'day, I have a small problem with the pdingobats2 fonts in Conky and pwidgets where the display is of the conventional font (e.g. a letter or number) instead of the corresponding pdingobats2 symbol (e.g. hard-drive (:), thermometer (z), wifi icon (0)). Seems to occur in all Pups and kernels (32 pwi...

G'day, Posting fron fossapup64-9.0.4-rc2, but as in previous fossas, could only get networking via my TP-Link USB dongle by switching to another kernel (ozsouth's 5.6.18) and replacing fossa's frdv with one just having the firmware needed for the dongle (ath9k_htc). I'll try another kernel, when I c...
