I am using Frigal Pup 64 V9.5 and I've installed Dropbox 198.4.7615 with PPM. I can see the icon in the bottom panel and can not sign in with Palemoon 30.xx that came with my OS so I am upgrading to Palemoon 33 which worked to sign in.
Now dropbox says "Your Dropbox folder is on a file system that is no longer supported." I can choose:
>see requirements...>https://help.dropbox.com/sync/files-not ... g#location
or Quit Dropbox
or Move> and I tried to save but it gave me the same error "Your Dropbox folder is on a file system that is no longer supported."

Do you have Dropbox working on puppy linux installed to a usb or are you guessing?
Re: Installing and setting up Dropbox
here are the Dropbox Essential requirements for Linux. I don't know if I have met those requirements or if it is possible using puppy lkinux.
To run the Dropbox app on your computer using Linux, you need:
Ubuntu 18.04 or later
64-bit systems only
Fedora 28 or later
Glibc 2.27 or later
The latest Dropbox app for Linux
Download the latest app
A Dropbox folder on a hard drive or partition formatted with one the following file system types:
ext4
zfs
eCryptFS (back by ext4)
xfs
btrfs

Re: Installing and setting up Dropbox
Is it possible to meet these system requirements in Puppy linux? I really like the feature that the os is written to RAM. It makes a significant difference when using the librew office LANdpLAN database.
The full Dropbox app on Linux
In addition, if you’d like to get the full Dropbox desktop app, you need to use:
A computer capable of running the required operating system, and one of the following desktop environments:
GNOME shell (you may need the TopIcons extension to get the Dropbox icon in your menu bar.)
Unity
GNOME Classic
XFCE with the corresponding Nautilus dependencies
These additional requirements, when applicable:
GTK 2.24 or later
Glib 2.40 or later
Libappindicator 12.10 or later
Nautilus 3.10.1 or later
Re: Installing and setting up Dropbox
My issue with Rclone and using dropbox from the web is ability to keep folders and files on the hard drive so that they can be loaded and edited by programs without the need to download the file before being able to open/edit it. With the desktop dropbox, files can be opened and edited and then saving happens automatically when the files is saved. Less downloading is necessary and that speeds up opening the file. LANdpLAN database is over 200 megabytes so it is in-practical to download it everytime I want to use the database. Is there a way to setup rclone to keep the files on the hard drive?
Re: Installing and setting up Dropbox
I would use a Linux VPS hosting service and install Nextcloud.
You can install/use Nextcloud applications eg Only Office for general tasks and potentially use Tables for your database requirements.
Re: Installing and setting up Dropbox
Can any of these be installed on puppy linux?
Ubuntu 22.10 or higher (.deb) 64-bit
Ubuntu 14.04 - 22.04 (.deb) 64-bit 32-bit
Fedora 37 or higher (.rpm) 64-bit
Fedora 21 - 36 (.rpm) 64-bit 32-bit
Debian 12 “Bookworm” or higher (.deb) 64-bit 32-bit
Debian 8 “Jessie” - Debian 11 “Bullseye” (.deb) 64-bit 32-bit
Re: Installing and setting up Dropbox
You can install the different packages provided.
If they do not work, check for error messages and if informs you of missing files.
Then use the apropriate package manager to install the applications and try again.
There are different Puppy builds for Ubuntu and Debian for x64 and x32.
A description will be provided in the 1st message outlining architecture and binary compatability.
In the Kennel Linux section, there is a KLF subsection for Kennel Linux Fedora 'Rawhide'.
Re: Installing and setting up Dropbox
FossaPup is based on ubuntu 20 so installed the dropbox.deb for ubuntu 14-22 from their website
from the ppm I installed:
nautilus_3.36.3
python3-g13.36.0-1
nautilus-dropbox_2019.02.14
dropbox_2020.03.04_amd64
I get this when I try to start Dropbox. Does it mean I have to upgrade PyGI? or something else...?
root# dropbox start -i

Re: Installing and setting up Dropbox
Trapster: I used gparted so all the partitions are ext4 and I used chmod 777 * to make them writable.
before testing if it works I was going to go throught the rest of the dependencies...
Jasper: One of the system requirements is Ubuntu 18.04 or later. Does this mean I'm SOL with Puppy?
I'm now trying to figure out how to install glib 2.4 or higher. One of the system requirements for dropbox.
then I got eye surgery
Re: Installing and setting up Dropbox
I think I need to upgrade GLIB 2.40 for dropbox because Puppy fossa has GLIB 2.312
$ldd --version
gives me
ldd (Ubuntu GLIBC 2.31-0ubuntu9) 2.31
Here is a discussion about it viewtopic.php?t=9336
