Hi,
using Fossadog for quiet a while now. Everything is fine but i cant use my printer.
Ok, i can "Print to File" and print at some other computer (or same one with my old Ubuntu) but can not find a way to add a new (laser-)printer.
Any hint?

Cu tuxtux

What is the specific make and model of the printer?

Have you even tried to setup Cups to use it?

@tuxtux :-

As my colleague has pointed out, you DO need to set your printer up! Puppy - like any other OS - cannot guess what your printer is, and certainly can't automatically install drivers and set it up without knowing where to find them and/or being told...

Although most "mainstream" distros tend to employ a dedicated front-end GUI, in much the same way as Windows, they all still use the C.U.P.S. (Common Unix Printing Service) back-end, which is web-based (and is thus able to detect and make use of networked printers/scanners, too).

You can find this at

http://localhost:631

It makes sense to bookmark this URL in your browser, for easy access. I'm pretty certain everybody here does. If you'll answer my colleague's question - about make/model, etc - we'll see what we can do to help.

Mike. ;)

Samsung ML1610

No. Think that is what i looked for and did not know where to search. So far every Linux, including puppy, i used had support for a standard laser printer without need to install extra packages.

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at localhost:631.

Looks cups is not installed. Will do this and come back if i need further help.
