Restricted terminal keyboard input in Puppy

Does this ever happen to anyone?

I'm using the Mainline Fossa 64. Exit to prompt.

Now keyboard won't take input. If I hold down a key it will eventually display characters, e.g., __________________[3 seconds of nothing then] "xxxxxx".

I only wanted one, but backspace is the same process. So the keyboard is still recognized but not working normally.

I didn't reboot to make this post. I plugged in a second USB keyboard that works a little better to restart X with xwin. The main keyboard, also USB, works perfectly once X is started.

I have seen this happen at times when building an operating system. It is a good chance that there are certain libraries that are not available when the system is dropped down to console level. I had behavior like no backspace or delete functions.

It happens with any key?

What is the make and model of the bad keyboard?

Do you have it set to anything other than a generic 104 key keyboard?
