Bionic64 desktop too big for Q-media monitor in HDMI, ok in VGA

Post by Tippe »

Hi.

I have a problem with my Q-Media Monitor.
When using VGA connection everything is fine.
But when using HDMI there's a section of the desktop not visible.
It looks like as if the desktop is bigger than the monitor.

So, a frame around the desktop is not visible. E.g. the first drive icon on the bottom shows only a quarter of its size from the left and the bottom line.

How to fix this?

Bionic Puppy 64bit.
Won't use another one.

may want to install arandr and figure it out. Xrandr command also may help.

What specific Puppy version????

We always need that basic info, because the software in each Puppy version is different!

What graphics hardware is the computer using?

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.

It's still Bionic 64bit - the only one I use.
Going to add this to my signature.

I think I will stick with VGA, as the monitor isn't really worth the trouble.
Got it from the streets trash.
Working fine but its stand is broken and it turns to standby every 4 hours.
Though, it comes back from standby immediately.

So, I can live with that.

Thanks

All computer monitors have internal settings.

Try accessing the internal settings and see if anything is available to adjust.

Usually the monitor will have a button on it someplace to push and bring up a menu on the screen.

Maybe what it is doing is why it went into the trash

There's a function to adjust screen width, height and position.
But it's only visible when using VGA.
It's not there in the menu when using HDMI.

Never mind.
It's not really necessary to use the HDMI connection.

On my new other monitor everything is fine.

Thanks
