How to save changes to menu ? (solved)

Post by mow9902 »

Hi - running F96 v4 for some time now - very happy thanks.

But - I have a couple of items in the menu which I would like to remove.

I thought it could be done easily by editing the /root/.jwmrc file and removing the items I wanted to - and then doing a puppy "save" after editing; also making sure I did a "save" when shutting down the system.

BUT - I find that after rebooting (or indeed also after doing "restart graphical server") the edited items re-appear in the menu.
How can I get my changes to stick? Is there some other file I need to edit?

thanks

There's a note in /root/.jwmrc in red (line 9)

@mow9902 :-

Me, I just remove the relevant .desktop files from /usr/share/applications, then run

Code: Select all

fixmenus
jwm -restart

.....in the terminal.

Works for me, since it 'edits' the self-same file as mentioned by Sonny above. I believe MenuManager in the Logout GUI will perform the same function, though I don't have this, since I'm using a highly-modified alternative Logout GUI that josejp2424 put together a while back...

Mike. ;)

@mow9902

Try:
Menu>Desktop>JWMdesk>Menu>Menu Manager

May do what you want easily.
