. webp as attached file PROBLEM [SOLVED]

I want to add a "problem".- When you want to add as attachement a .webp image, this format is not supported by the forum is there any reason for that or is for a limitation of the forum itself?

-I ask this because some users are against .webp format because they think is a google imposed limitation)

Thanks in advance

I guess I might as well post this here.

It's a wee utility I knocked together a few months ago, utilising Google's own conversion tools for WebP. It'll permit conversion back & forth between WebP & PNG, and WebP & JPG. Parts of the scripts were cribbed direct from Google's own WebP website, I make no bones about that.

This one's packed as a ROX-app. After you've unzipped it, it'll run from anywhere. When it fires up, you get a wee GUI, and an empty ROX-filer window. Drag whatever you want to convert into the empty window, then run the appropriate operation on it. It's as simple as that.

64-bit only, I'm afraid. Hope it's useful for some of you! You can find it here:-

Enjoy.

Mike. ;)

As I suspected, gif and webp with transparency look terrible (and wrong, do not correspond to the idea) with a dark forum theme. But gif is slightly better. I don't know who and how, but I choose a gif and a light theme :)

This homo homini lupus est illustration doesn't seem to be any more terrible than it is per se with either theme. If you're talking about the shadows, they should be semitransparent to look better on any background and this is not specific to the webp format.

All the emoji except one on this forum have this problem on the dark background. (But this is because I don't know how to enable the dark theme for guests and therefore use the generic one provided by a firefox extension.)

NO PROBLEM

This homo homini lupus est

Oh, I almost forgot :) Let me ask you how one fan (amateur) of literature and a naturalist asks the second (professional) ;) Why Burunduk and not Chipmunk?

If you ask why Grey, and the avatar is yellow-brown, then I will ask why not Chip and Dale or Alvin, Simon, Theodore :)
