MERCUSYS WL3000 can take a WiFi signal?

Post by Amaponian »

I have a modem/router model Mercusys WM3000.
I bought it planning to use it as an extender of an existing WiFi signal, I used to do that with another router. I can't find a way to do that with the new one. I'm starting to doubt that can be done with the new router which is more advanced than the older one.

Anyone knows if this router (mercusys wm3000) is capable of taking the internet from a WiFi signal and create another WiFi signal with internet?

Greetings from Venezuela.

@Amaponian I think it will work if you take an ethernet cable and connect the router with Internet connection to the MERCUSYS WL3000 router. Like in the example:

That helped. I thought those were outlets only.

The Mercusys WM3000 is a wireless range extender that is designed to extend the range of an existing Wi-Fi network.

It should be capable of receiving a Wi-Fi signal from an existing router or access point, and then retransmitting that signal to provide better coverage in areas where the Wi-Fi signal may be weak or low.

HOWEVER , the Mercusys WM3000 does not have the capability to create another Wi-Fi signal with internet from a single Wi-Fi signal. It can only amplify and extend an existing Wi-Fi signal to improve coverage.

If you want to create another Wi-Fi signal with internet, you would need a device that can act as a router or access point, such as a wireless router or a dedicated access point.

These devices can create a new Wi-Fi network with internet connectivity, and can be connected to the existing network to extend coverage.

So u know, it can amplify the signal but it can't create another WiFi signal.
