examples of tool use for multiple creative purposes.

But this is not our own creativity. The machine does everything, and we degrade, gradually, but inexorably.
On the other hand, to ask a question, you need to know at least approximately the topic. That is, to know about the existence of an object or phenomenon. In the future, not everyone will be able to even do that :)

I imagine a very beautiful and highly educated runway model

Too expensive. To work in the "phone sex" service, you do not need an appearance, you need a pleasant voice :)
By the way, what influenced the development of video cameras and Internet and forced people to invest money there? Porn :)

All these Chats will be used for exactly these purposes. It will also be possible to generate code, but it will look something like this.
In 2089, as we already know :) , all kinds of Puppy operating systems will be written by AI.

As I am aware that this gentleman is RETIRING at his age, I am ALSO aware that long before now major Corporations like IBM have been at work on these tools for more than 40 years, when I 1st became aware of this movement in technology. Thus Google and others corps are late to this game.

This term and its attraction is recent times among the many is fasenating to watch and the way corporatioHins are juimping on the term everywhere. So much, that many will remain confused of it for years to come on what EXACTLY AI (the term) really means.

Those who have computer technology education or backgrounds know about LLMs, ML, block-chaining, and the work done in CSMs and such in business.

The current "AI" tools will continue to advance to the next level of computing.

NONE of what we are looking at today will slow where US military must have for its world domination. This is why so much of Quantum computing is flying unseen in the public radar. Here, there is NO public understanding of WHY this is happening and what it will do in information processing and research.

His leaving Google and the press echos of "sorrow" are synonymous of the Father of the modern computer, years ago echo his sorry for its advancement. Its synonymous with the physicist who have echo sorrow for creations of Atomic weaponry. This sorry will Not stop mankind's advancements. Nor will it stop/deter the use by the rich and powerful to continue its push to top others.

This is NOT to say I agree nor to say I disagree. For me, its too late as "that ship has sailed". Since, I have had direct and indirect contact with the progress of this technology. Yet, I am NO specialist in its use at this point. And, I have actually had hand-on in a seminar years ago where talking to PC, I (and the others attending) created working code with not manual inputs.

The press is VERY good at creating fear for over 3 centuries. This current news cycle is nothing new.

Those of us in technology backgrounds, KNOW enough to see pass the hype of the media as the fear does NOT affect us.

But, if I wanted to go as far as to buy into the fear, I see the following as a possible international directions:

  1. The ONLY way out, from my point of view is to do what the Russians and US did years ago to create a "detente" to control who gets it and how many they will get. Since, I know this to be impossible for AI in today's imperialism, use of the tools will grow enormously in use.

  2. My 2nd BEST way out is to give it to EVERYONE and teach everyone best directions for use to human benefits. This, too, will NOT happen in a Capitalist world as the Greed factor of the controllers wont let it.

My best use case, for me and my grandkids, is to teach them the use of this tool for accelerating the gathering of answers to the many solutions using it can bring. Even as it could become as sentient as the SHIP in the movie '2001', it will still serve mankind in so many beneficial ways.

This is merely a view. I hope others seek ways to affect the responsible use of this new technology for something beneficial to all of us. AI, the term, is NOW everywhere and being used by everyone for all sorts of things related or not.

After listening and reviewing the presentations of Google AI, they shows some very interesting advancements available to common peoples.

I am most interested in their active translation tool, although not yet available generally.

In reading between the lines, it appears that a NEW browser is on the way. I could not gleen if it will be integrated in Chromium/Chrome or if it will be called something else. But, its revolutionary. This is NOT made public, but, piecing together as much as the corporate speakers demo'd and shared in their speeches, there are several hints in their sessions of something akin in the future from them. Thus, an AI-browser, that is personally and uniquely tied to everyone of us, individually. The metaverse concept will take off in some new ways.

Or it just might be planned to usher in something completely new app/subsystem obsoleting browsers of today.

@Grey's ChatGIRL will become sentient personally to him and us as well. (smile) :)

Also, IBM announced WATSONX/WATSONAI to be available in June. Most all members on this thread are aware of WATSON the game playing intelligence and also its ability in Medicine. But this is going to enable Corporations in some far-reaching ways as they bring their 3 decades old AI into availablity to corps. It is hoped it will become available to the public. Their efforts have been used in M.I.C. for over 2 decade providing the ability to fly planes and operate ships. WATSON gaming was just one of the public displays of their power.

Well, jokes are jokes. But nevertheless.
No, it's not Joe Adhemar's song of the same name :)
It's, like, so to speak... Well, in general, with the help of AI, you can generate naked and not very naked women and girls. It seems that you can use a two-word query for free.

If I understand the situation correctly, then all the power of AI is used as follows  Intelligent young men take the faces of Jenna Ortega, Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez and "attach" these faces to the body of Hitomi Tanaka :)

Who there hoped that nerds would use AI for other purposes ;) ?

I now wish I was 10/15 years younger as these tools are becoming 'Generally" publicly available.

They are incredible with so much to learn from their ability to be a growing and personal sidekicks (yes, multiples). My current challenges is how to manage the tailorings. Then after the individual tailoring to incorporate them into a family; helping and personal.

Impressives!

Yes, last week announcements from almost everyone was like a "tidal wave" of products for public consumption.

I am awash'ed.

So much so, we, all of us, are now 'kids in a toy store" allowed to take whatever toys we want home...or as many toys as we want.

As I predicted, a new browser is forthcoming (OpenAI announced now, others will transition or remake anew). This whole technology is morphing right in front of us!

All of us will be impacted...not some ... ALL.

p.s. Apple JUST JUMPED into the AI water with their game-changer moments ago. With all of this heavy Iron, now giving this freely to the public, will OpenAI survive? I am not sure if their upcoming browser will be enough to save them.

Small creases above he right-eye/forehead does not look natural. Too much detail there. Also the head dress (fabric) not quite. Ultra high resolution screen TV's also look unnatural to me. Too much like a glossy photo.

I see exactly what you mean now that you point it out. Just too much wrinkle or furrow detail. Especially on such a young face perhaps.....

The generated picture is most probably technically very accurate but there is a difference how the human eye perceives it. I'm using a 1080P monitor and I'll bet if you look at that picture on an ultra hd screen you will see even more detail which will be even more unnatural to the human eye. This is one of the reasons I will not buy an ultra hd tv because the pictures looks unnatural to me and I don't like that.

This is a low-noise level eye-opener on directions of PCs that are already underway.

Google's announcement on Chromebook is one oF those repeating occurrences that have occurred multiple times in my years. An announcement that seems so outlandish it is to be dismissed.

I saw this with MainFrames, then with Minis for Small Businesses. Then I saw it in the 2nd Generation of PCs, Then again in 1991 prior to OS2. Then in 1994, immediately prior to Win95. Then in 1995 on 64bit. Then again and again and, now, yet again.

What am I referring to, you ask: Well Google's announcement of PLUS means something significant for several reasons (whether we like them or not). A change, again, occurring.

This is highlighted, I think 'reinforced' is a better word, by these 2 articles if you like to read in this age of A-V.
From The Register: "When is a PC an AI PC? Nobody seems to know or wants to tell"
From Reuters: "Intel pitches the 'AI PC' at software developer event"

This is a post of what's ahead so that we are not so shocked with the announcements going forward.

I am not posting this for agreement or disagreement. It is mere information of a trend that started when AI became a public entity in November, last year. The PCs and home units are just the tip of our future iceberg.

FYI

Firstly, I am not a 'fan' of technology. It is/was, just, my career and life since 19yo,

When I have spoken of technology, it is from the view-point of what is being presented and why I foresee its use as important to note. I dont remember speaking before of QR code and have probably ONLY used it with some home units setup that "Matter" offers.

The article, you present, is fascinating and is the current trend to eliminate keystrokes via QRs; when we (especially ME) mistype entries by automating this via QR codes.

I am glad you sent this, as I foresee a new approach coming to "Death and Dying". I've had a recent "important" family member died. In fact had to call local authorities, recently, when my neighbor died after not seeing him for couple days. (They-we had to break-in to discover him as he lived alone)

Thanks for the article on another way that QRs are being used.

P.S. How many of us have come to understand that ALL humans are sentient...

I already knew about the business of churches for the forgiveness of sins (this was done directly through websites). But I have not yet encountered QR codes in rituals. That's why they caught my attention.

This is a VERY good statement,IMHO:

AI might in fact be a better replacement form of 'life' on future Earth; and coding at the level we do, at least, will surely soon be a waste of time anyway compared to what AI will inevitably very soon be able to produce using little time and no 'effort'. And, frankly, AI robots (not that they need humanoid shape or form) will surely have no interest in what their desktops look like since it is all just binary coded patterns to them that communicate information for some use or another. ...

+1

There are 2 element at play that I wish to draw attention. AND, it is hope that more of us take some active roles in responding to posts seen across the social media world. In my view, it is important that we, in technology, force governmental authorities and industry to preserve the FREEDOM of information access that we've come to enjoy in our internet past.

Coming SOON, unless WE get active: "A New Dark Ages" similar to what happened Europe at the collapse of the Roman Empire.

Today, AI has been released with few peoples understanding "what" it is. There are all sorts of wild claims pleading governments to get involve to STOP average citizens to use it for the benefit it offers. Do not confuse by my last sentence to ignore creative license as that is NOT what it means.

What happened in Europe at the time of the rise of the printing press: Anyone remember. The hype was that everyone with the skills to read, could now get books and learn things that was unavailable to them before. "What was kingdoms and Churches reactions? "Average people should not have access!"

US government is about to lead on AI controls. It is a capitalist society. So what would a society do with any product? Since this product is informational at the hands of any human, the REAL concern is that ANY human, especially poor should NOT have the same privilege to information that the wealthy do.

Just as Public education has been continually dismantled to insure that only the fee-based private schools will teach, this is about to happen with the LLMs. You/I will ONLY have access if we can pay and it will only provide a limited access to all the knowledge of the world in such a way as to guide what I can or am allowed to know.

We are headed to a new reality unseen by any Sci-Fi seen in history.

WE should NOT be into thinking that access to LLMs (better known as AI) are bad. But rather we should be thinking about how the current benefits it offers will be taken away such that you will ONLY have access to ONLY what they legislate for you.

Like the books and knowledge that the printing press provided, expect a similar manner to limit what any of you will ever have the benefit the LLMs are currently providing.

A new form of "Dark Ages" appear to be on their horizon. Dont be fooled. Start now to understand why something that is so important will be taken away diminishing what your kids and grandkids and their grandkids will be pigeon-holed into. Forum members must consider: ACT with your eyes wide open!

2 very recent announcements:

  1. GITHUB now has AI available <=== article here

  2. Elon announces, but no 'real' product yet: his take on AI. This as well as, separately, his splitting X into two(2) sites:

    • "say whatever you want" site and

    • "his Guarded version of what can be said" site.

  3. These announcements are both unclear and no dates assigned, AFAIC.

AI writes news headlines

Post by Grey »

@Clarity Lately, I've noticed that the headlines of articles on news sites have become something... artificial. And I found a certain commonality in them.

Here is an example with headlines on Russian websites. You don't need to know the language or translate, I'll just explain the point. And I highlighted the common word in the screenshot ;)

All the headings have the word "find" in them. All headings are related to this word and its derivatives. ""Found the reason", "found the way", "found the case", "found it important". Well, plus everything like "the amount of the actor's fees was found" or "an increase in car prices was found".

I don't like. I don't know how it is in English news, but for Russian headlines it all looks pathetic, boring and unnatural. And it's just monotonous🥁, without a twist🌀

AI? Although perhaps this is a new generation of journalism students  ?

This is clearly not the work of a human being. They're HERE🤖, just like you said ;) :

Yes - similar in western media. All aimed at playing the emotions or distracting away from "real" news.
All around me I see people spending a great deal of time drifting along with such "news" articles and reels - seemingly unaware that they started looking at something meaningful but got pulled into an AI vortex of manipulation.

Of course such things are blamed on Russian election interference :D :D
It will get worse into 2024.
