@peebee :-

Perhaps others may find the odd glitch....but to me, it all looks A-OK so far, Peter.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_blindness

A colorblind subject will have decreased (or no) color discrimination along the red–green axis, blue–yellow axis, or both, though the vast majority of the colorblind are only affected on their red–green axis.

Red–green color blindness is the most common form, followed by blue–yellow color blindness and total color blindness.[2] Red–green color blindness affects up to 1 in 12 males (8%) and 1 in 200 females (0.5%).[2][4] The ability to see color also decreases in old age.

I will need to override the current ne-blackgreen CSS for tables and define the colors locally which should help. It can't stay this way for the ne-blackgreen theme style. Need to check the other dark themes as well.

Otherwise @peebee the list looks good and the links working.

Any chance of 32bit and 64bit being totally separated?

I think it would be handy to have all 32bit listed first, then all 64bit as a separate section.
(even though some distros come in both 32 and 64bit versions)

Readability?

I'm red/green colourblind.
I don't know what colours are in MochiMoppel's version but it is painful to look at and not readable to me. The version peebee has seems fine as it is, but other colourblindness variants may say differently.

I think base is more differential than architecture.... and 64-bit is likely to be of greater interest than 32-bit.....

Agreed.....except I would place these t'other way round. Standard, default mode for literally everything these days is 64-bit. 32-bit, while not necessarily passé, is definitely considered "legacy". Makes no sense to have it in the top slot.

-------------------------------------------------

As for "readability"? Yeah; I meant to mention that. Reminds me a bit of Tahrpup's terminal in 'ne-blackgreen' mode! Light green on a pale blue background.....yeesh. :shock:

@pp4mnklinux :-

You're obviously not using the forum's 'ne-blackgreen' theme! :P Some of us HAVE to use dark themes out of necessity; if I spend all day staring at bright white webpages, my vision is wrecked in very short order...legacy of a previous occupation that left my eyes permanently sensitive to any kind of bright light.

Mike. ;)

Hi, @mikewalsh , I understood what do you mean, but please, can u share your settings when talking about the screen?

That is, I use the dark mode but only sometimes, because I thought it was not really useful, but of course u are more used than me to work with a pc.

Do you think is interesting install this software....REDSHIFTGUI (I had it installed some time ago) (xenialpup https://archive.org/download/Puppy_Lin ... 81124.pet )

Thanks for your help.

@peebee The Vanilla Dpup row should point to 9.3.x, correct download links and and viewtopic.php?t=7656.

And why is this table needed if we have the download page on puppylinux.com?

Agreed, I think it should be all x86_64 releases first, then x86, and sort each half by descending release date (i.e. F96-CE above FossaPup64, for obvious reasons, and VoidPup32 above S15Pup32, if core packages like glibc are newer in VoidPup32). Most users who know nothing about Puppy probably want x86_64, and want the most recent release.

@dimkr The collection page is being evaluated and is experimental in the sense that we don't know yet if it will remain active or be removed.

Agreed is that it is possible too many different link pages will be difficult to maintain to be current and cause confusion for the new casual user.

Some good points here on improving the page. One main thing is how do we modify the puppylinux.com listings? Can you do the pull re quest merges or do we refer that to 01micko? Because before I disable and hide the Collection page it would be ra good idea that the listings on puppylinux.com be solid and up to date.

@rockedge puppylinux.com redirects to https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/p ... .github.io

@dimkr Yes I know, I wrote the URL rewrite rule to redirect puppylinux.com to the actual web pages at GitHub without interfering with puppylinux.com's SSL certificates.

That's why I am surprised the pages at GitHub are not quite up to date, it is a matter of pull requests so anyone with a GitHub account should be able to pull request changes to the content as it gets updated.

Puppy is a do-ocracy. People can, but they just don't do.

Many people still feel comfortable with following the lead of those who have better skills.
It's not always productive for everyone to pitch in and have a bash.
(But maybe I just misunderstand what github is/does...)

Yes, some things in Puppy development require some programming skills, Linux experience and a tinkerer mindset, like https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE/pull/3867, https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/w ... a6d7cbaba7 or https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE/pull/3783.

IMO editing https://puppylinux-woof-ce.github.io/download.html is not rocket science, and requires very basic text editing skills. If you understand Markdown (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/puppy ... ownload.md), you probably know how to edit this file can contribute a change to https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/p ... ownload.md.

I think:

The table of official pups on http://www.puppylinux.com/ should be replaced with a simple list of the official pups

The table of downloads on https://puppylinux-woof-ce.github.io/download.html should be replaced with a display of puppy-linux-collection if that is possible** as the forum page is easier to keep up-to-date

** I suspect "markdown" cannot implement this sadly

I think it could be on the list.....we'll need the links to the download and web pages for the DevuanPup distro.

We'll definitely review where to add the information. :thumbup2:
