Re: Puppy on Distrowatch
I've just had a look at Distrowatch, does the ranking apply to any Puppy or just one? It's currently at 21 in the listing, which I didn't think was too bad.
While I was there I read a few of the reviews, and couldn't believe some of the negative ones. For example "A good distro but lacks support". The same reviewer then goes on to say "There is a forum but not very friendly". What??? Where on earth do they get that impression from?
Others have complained about the usual stuff, such as won't boot, or can't connect to wifi. Have they asked? Or do they just abandon things when something doesn't work at the first click of a mouse?
Then again some people manage to criticise MX Linux, which has been no. 1 on Distrowatch for as long as I can remember. Perhaps they're just trolls with nothing better to do with their time. I do despair sometimes.

Saw the same things. Perhaps it would help if we include a clear note in the release context pointing them to the forum.

Re: Puppy on Distrowatch
Keep in mind that the list on Distrowatch is only a list of how many times someone clicks on and looks at a specific Linux OS.
Most of the ones at the top of the list get clicked on the most, because they are at the top of the list.
Most people look at that list and think the ones listed as 1 thru 5 or 10 must be the best Linux OS's.
There was a time when Puppy Linux was 2 on that list.
That was when old computers were really getting slow, by the newer releases of Windows OS.
People were really looking for something to replace Windows OS.
I wish that list was based on users review ratings.
https://distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resource=ranking
But even that is a little misleading if you consider how many people actually gave a rating.
Puppy is rated higher than MX Linux
The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected

Distros that have help on main distro server are higher on list as help searches increase clicks, as we use rockedge help does no generate puppy linux hits for the ranking,
