Re: can't download anything
@boof :-
I don't understand. Why are you requesting to do this via PM?
The whole point of having a forum is that it enables the entire community to help out.......with suggestions, advice, tips, etc. If there's an issue with any particular piece of software, either because it's a bug OR because it's due to being used in a certain way, then I'm quite certain I'm right in saying that we ALL want to know about it....y'know?
Please remember this in future.
Mike.

Re: can't download anything
@boof I have experienced the same on Fossapup64-9.5 that Firefox simply would not download anything. Seemed like no rhyme or reason and palemoon could download the same I was trying to download with Firefox. Still not sure why this occurs.
It seems in my case it was that some how the /root/Downloads
directory had some type of corruption. I could not delete it and changing the permissions didn't work. The browsers did not "see" the directory at all. I could rename it to "W" and I created a new directory called Download (no "s") but Firefox still refused to download, but palemoon could.
The fact that I can not delete this folder means I need to boot into a RAM only OS and try to delete the directory or try to use Windows 10 which is also on this machine but has only been booted into Win10 once in like years.
Is there something wrong with your /root/Downloads
directory?

Re: can't download anything
I always set browsers to ask where to save when I download anything.
That way I can pick the specific location.

This is not what I expected

Re: can't download anything
Hi:
As bigpup said, you can change the default download folder or tell FF to ask you where to save files.
I think that is the best solution (is possible reinstalling FF you solve your problem too)
Cheers

Re: can't download anything
The problem I have experienced is also that Firefox refused to download to ANY directory on the system. Does not matter what option is chosen,
Check the folder's extra attributes and if any SUID or SGID bit is set. Like I have mentioned, I still not sure why Firefox does't even blink and throw some error or warning while palemoon downloads, But not to the corrupted /root/Downloads
Re: can't download anything
thx. how current is this? i think there was another recent bad update that AGAIN wiped out my saved logins. it may be from that? the 3rd time that happened i created a spreadsheet of them and put it in a non system/savefile partition.
stable chrome does it too, indicates bad permissions.
how to set all users and their passwords to default, pls?

Re: can't download anything
Presumably you're not running Firefox/Chrome as spot, and downloading to a folder outside of /home/spot ?

Re: can't download anything
A save backup is only going to have in it, what was there when it was made.
I made this mistake.
Was running in pupmode 13, where you have to click on the desktop save icon, to get stuff into the save, if you do not want to do a shutdown to do it.
Anything new is in the save ramdisk in RAM, until you make it go into the save.
Had been running Puppy for long time, adding and changing things.
Did not click on save icon, to get all of this into the save.
Made a save backup, but it had none of the stuff, I had been doing, in it.
