A "Development Versions" forum category?

@rockedge
I think there should be a place for peebee's 32-bit fossa, jammy and kinetic versions somewhere in this category on the first page. Maybe in a sub-section of mainline like "Development Versions" or whatever would be an appropriate category name for these releases (they are newer afterall so will definitely appeal to some). I'm mentioning this because I'm not so sure these releases are so well-known/prominent/promoted as it should be on the forum. I have just answered a question from a user on the forum who wanted a 32-bit version of Fossa64, so he was clearly not aware of the mentioned releases.

Maybe as a companion to the phrase already used call it 'Sideline Puppy Linux Distros'. :) But whatever it's called, I think amethyst's idea is a good one. I don't think people new to the forum realize that many really good operating systems beyond the 'Mainline' are available; never 'burrow down' into the Forum and discover that among our other offerings may be one fulfilling such newbie's needs or so nearly so that little more would need be done.

Just as with peebee's Puppys that amethyst mentioned, I've found it necessary to call attention to several with which I'm familiar, e.g. wizard's Friendly Fossa, mistfire's quickpup, and those by josejp2424 come readily to mind. I wonder how many of us know that almost two years ago josejp2424 published debian based Puppys with synaptic builtin?

I'd include in that category pretty much everything now assigned to Puppy Derivatives and those Puppys which now have been relegated to Projects. Projects would then contain those Puppys 'still being developed', while 'Sideline' those --which like 'Mainline'-- will only be modified by updates and bug-fixes. A Puppy's Creator could advise Rockedge when a Puppy's Section should be moved out of the Projects SubForum; or choose not to so as to avoid the responsibility of periodically having to update it.

I am considering adding a 'Sideline Puppy Linux Distros' section, but we have already an entire Puppy Derivative and Project sections which seems to already be the place to cover these distros. Do we move the entire section(s) and rename them thereby eliminating them?

Overall first page size matters on this website.

How about changing the second section of the forum, Mainline Distributions, to just "Distributions". Then move Puppy Derivatives into Distributions. This would consolidate them all making it easier for users to see the variety of choices available.

@wizard That is a good idea. Today I will take a good look at it and most likely move it as suggested.
