Start with a fresh frugal installation of F96_4-radky6-CE then insure that the Pkg2-cli is installed if not download pkg-2.0.9.pet and install it.

run in a terminal twice:

pkg repo-update

Download the 2 scripts and run them in order 01 then 02. Once both the scripts are finished, in a terminal:

zmpkg.pl start 

In a browser open http://localhost/zm and a page with some legal stuff should appear.

If any trouble with local usb webcams check the permissions and or add user www-data to the video group

chown www-data /dev/video0

Is it easy to use this zoneminder install with old android phones? I don't have any custom cameras but tons of old phones - was hoping to set up system for keeping an eye on back garden cos have crazy neighbour that is more than a bit of a psycho behaviour-wise.

@wiak Yes there is a good way to use old Android phones as netcams. The application is Droidcam which I started experimenting with after @BarryK had posted about it. I've tested it with a Motorola and it works well. And the ideas to mount the phones as camera's are plentiful.

I just checked and it gives an "made for old version" warning, but still worked on my 2018 vintage phone.

edit: Make sure when you mount it that it has air circulating around it. A lot of phones don't have great thermal management and something like sticking them to a wall with double sided tape and then running it hard can kill them.
