Why should I mount DevX in HOME? [SOLVED]

Post by Jasper »

Hi there

I am curious as to why when loading this SFS I am given the option to load it in my Home folder.

The only two reasons I can imagine is that it loads in RAM and is sandboxed.

Is that correct or is there another reason?

I don't know what system you are using and how it's set up. I'm just guessing you are talking about this message from the sfs_load script:

The SFS file is preferably to be at the same place you will save your session as a 'pupsave'. Do you want to copy blabla.sfs to /mnt/home(recommended)?

/mnt/home is not /root and the sfs is not going to be mounted there. It's recommended to copy the file because it can be found there and loaded automatically at the next system startup. You can then control it via main menu -> Setup -> SFS-Load on-the-fly.

If this is about something else, please provide a bit more detailed description.

/mnt/home in Puppy Linux is not the same as the home directory in a normal Linux filesystem.

/mnt/home is the partition the Puppy frugal install is located or the save file/folder is located.

It is also not a location inside the save like /home is.

Puppy has two home locations
/home (a directory in the filesystem)
/mnt/home (this is actually a mount point)

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o
