Mtp file copying error [SOLVED]

Post by Jasper »

Hi all

I am experiencing some difficulties in transferring over files from my phone to the PC.

The earlier message mentioned a "numerical" error. Could this be due to the large number of files contained within the directory on the phone?

Also, in the camera directory I am able to view thumbnails but not so in the screenshot folder. Both directories contain only jpegs.

Has anyone else had the same issue?

Is there a solution?

Phones are like people, all different with quirks. Nothing important follows.

Has it ever mounted/copied ok on this computer?

I have a samsung phone that hates Rox but works ok with XFE on one version of puppy, but works ok with Rox on another version of Rox.

In the past changing USB ports or booting a different puppy to transfer files has eventually worked. Always have good luck with Fossa64 though on any system.

Have had permission issues in the past, for that I blame the phone. Now I just move all files to a directory that I know works for transfer. Yea I know nothing useful but I feel your pain.

@dogcat

It has always worked perfectly and still continues to do so.

I wished I had somehow managed to screengrab the earlier message about "numerical......", it simply got me think that there was a limit on the depth and length of filenames.

Thanks for the suggestion though :thumbup:

Usually all I am transferring are podcasts, music and movies from Puppy to the phone. Just filling the phone full of entertainment when I have to travel or go out jogging.
