Hello,
I have the latest Firefox, but hardware acceleration is not working.
It seems that the MESA version is too old ?
How to have a newer MESA in bionicpup ?
I would like to see if the problem comes from firefox or from mesa being too old.
Please help LOL.

Which Bionicpup?
Bionicpup32 or 64?
Did hardware acceleration work in an older version of Firefox?

64 , I already said it before.
Yes it used to work. And it works now in google chrome.
By the way, why don't you test the different browsers speeds on your PC to find bugs ?
It would help.

Believe it or not, most of us have got better things to do with our time than spending every waking minute messing around with browser benchmarks/bugs/issues. I package many of them, and I'M not obsessed with the darn things. They're a necessary evil, it's true, but most of us are just happy if they work & let us access the sites we want to visit...
Different folks, different priorities in life.
Mike.

Could you point to where you say this is 64 bit Bionicpup in the first post of this topic?
The way they keep updating web browsers and constantly break and fix stuff with each new version.
I would give it a few days until they release the next version of Firefox.

Anyway, the bug lies in mesa, they will solve it in the future. Right now it doesn't support full acceleration for old radeon cards. So at least the benchmarks could show this and I found out why.

@mimine
Have you looked at the Ubuntu updates for Mesa for Bionic ?
https://packages.ubuntu.com/source/bionic-updates/mesa
Also, Mesa has two versions and you might need to check which build is relevant for your hardware. The legacy products are supported by the Amber branch.
https://docs.mesa3d.org/amber.html
To compile the application, it does require a number of pre-requisite 3rd party tools and is not necessarily straightforward for a beginner.
The latest build of Puppy S15Pup32 or 64 have a more updated version of Mesa included.
Why not give it a test spin and see if it resolves your current issue?

If you want to do that, you need to use pkg
to add in the kisak-mesa (stable) repo. Additionally it will have to be installed directly to your save file to overwrite existing files, it cannot be packed into a squash file. Also if you forget to install everything... chaos will break loose.
But palemoon and google chrome both work with hardware acceleration, however firefox does not for me. This is as of right now using 22.1.7 from kisak. The latest one (8 weeks ago) is 22.3.7 from kisak.
