My keyboyards doesn't work properly inside chrome

I changed my physical keyboard recently. I re-configured my system (changed keyboard layout) for the new keyboard to work properly. Everything works fine, save for the browser (chrome, last version) who doesn't respond to diacritics in the chosen layout (any layout, I think. Without success, I tested two layouts that worked well few days ago). This happened without changing chrome version, then I changed to the most recent version, but the problem keeps the same. Accented words can be pasted but I cannot write them directly from the keyboard ¿How can I correct that? Some help appreciated.

I'm working with Bionicpup64, frugal install.
Here's more information about my system:

No way to solve this, even reinstalling a clean Puppy, using an old version of Google Chrome or using my old keyboard. Nothing works, a real challenge to common sense. I had to decide whether to move back to Palemoon or write things in Geany and paste them into Chrome.

Sounds like this issue here
Looks like chromium is no longer an option on older Puppies

older Puppies

That really hurts me.

But your answer made me install Fossapup.
Last version of Chrome works perfectly fine there. So the problem is reduced to old age.

Thank you.
