Graphics-Video services via VLC in PUPs/DOGs

VLC is a video multimedia playback system. BUT, unknown to many, it does so much more.

In PUPs/DOGs, there are several-many utilities that are in the menu to assist us with multimedia content.

You will be surprised that VLC, now, does much of what we use the on-board distro utilities or even some of clippings we do with AVIdemux/OpenShot/ShotCut/etc.

This Instructional VLC video can be helpful for those who wish to let this single product be a one-stop for what we have been using all sorts of on-boards...all the sorts via this solution.

Enjoy

Wow! Very informative. Have used a bit since it came out, but had no idea of all that it could do. Thanks.

One other thing not mentioned in the video is VLC's ability to cast content to a television. I have used for years to cast audio & video from my puppy file server.

Thanks

Frankly, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this before!

VLC has always been capable of a whole lot more than meets the eye. Most people use it for playing videos & music, and perhaps dig far enough to use it for recording screen content, but that's about as far as most people go.

Ya just gotta keep digging.....and you keep on unearthing more & more hidden "gems". It's well worth exploring, truly it is.

Mike. ;)

I have used VLC to stream a web camera to a LAN making it appear as a network ip camera. Also use VLC to test camera stream URL's for network cameras and to verify the stream output URL's of the cameras for use with ZoneMinder

ZoneMinder has options to use the VLC libraries to stream content.
