Mikewalsh's MasterPDFEditor4 (use the 4 version not 5, 5 puts a watermark on documents) available here:

You can also edit PDF's using LibreOffice Draw, it works well for doing edits.

TerryH's advice to use mike's sfs is probably going to be the most relevant choice, but for some distros another way to get appropriate version is (found from Wayback machine) archive here:

thx.
i want to paste a small pdf object [my signature] into govt forms to save printing/scanning them. my hands are rapidly losing their ability to write/scrawl consistently. if i concentrate and create a good one, it will last a long time. online forms are much preferred to going to an office.

I just tried the Libreoffice - Draw solution.
Opened up Libreoffice Draw
Opened the PDF document ( which was previously saved )
Inserted the image I wanted via Menu --> Insert --> Image
Resized / repositioned
Exported the document to be saved as a PDF (the default 300 DPI is more than enough detail)
(You can also choose which pages to export, too)

Works well - and you can edit test too !
