Seeking Recommendations of 5GHz wifi dongles

Hi all,
bigpup's post https://www.forum.puppylinux.com/viewto ... 885#p63885 reminded me of an unsolved problem. My service provider is fios: fiber-optics into the Router which is on the 2nd Floor. The Router transmits wifi signals at both 2.4GHz or 5GHz. I have an extender on the 1st floor which also transmits wifi signals at both 2.4GHz or 5GHz. But the dongle plugged into my desktop in the basement only receive 2.4 GHz signals. Does anyone know of a wifi adapter (dongle or card) that can be used with Puppys capable of receiving wifi signals at 5 GHZ?

I am using a Netgear AC1200 USB 3.0 WiFi Adapter.
Just got it and it works OK.
Have not tried it with all Puppy versions, but Fossapup64 9.5 had no problem using it.
I would think any WIFI USB adapter, sold now, will be able to do 2.4GHZ or 5 GHZ.
Should say in the specs.
Any Puppy version with a 5 series kernel should already have drivers for anything you buy.
Unless it is so new, no one has had a chance to put the drivers in the kernel.
But if needed, adding drivers is not that hard.
I find, if you get the one or two model down from, the very newest model, USB adapter for that brand.
Drivers are already installed in most Puppy versions.

Several Wifi 6 USB adapters are now down in cost;
USB connector on PC might be of general importance, also, in your selection; ie. v2/V3.0/V3.1/v3.2.
The latest router from my ISP comes with Wifi 6 in the home. My latest cell phone, gotten earlier this year, has Wifi 6 also.
Thus broadcast-receiver "a/b/g....ac/6" now in my home
Hope this info is useful/helpful

I never see any of these things having that statement.
Run away, run away!

One thing to be mindful of, is the reduced transmission coverage of the 5GHz (and even less for 6GHz) bands. It may struggle to connect to the 5GHz band in the basement with the router on the second floor and only an extender on the first floor.

I have. But having been running in circles for some time I decided to break the Manly Rule of never asking directions.
